The content of jokes in past dynasties
This book collects about 2000 jokes from more than 70 kinds of ancient jokes from the Three Kingdoms period to the late Qing Dynasty. Generally, it is selected from Jokes Collection, but those whose books have been lost use the old edition (such as Laughing Forest) or re-edited (such as 102 articles compiled from six kinds of materials such as Dunhuang documents). When compiling, the editor deleted vulgar, obscene and partially repeated paragraphs. In chronological order, each album is preceded by version revision, source description, content and author introduction. At the back of the book is 36 kinds of jokes that have been lost or not received in the past dynasties.
This book is rich in content and provides representative works and important clues of China's ancient jokes. However, the collected folk jokes and literati jokes have not been appraised, and the original text lacks collation. 1985 "The Continuation of Jokes in Past Dynasties" was published, including 5 jokes in Ming and Qing Dynasties, 2 in Appendix, and hundreds of jokes in * * *. Mainly jokes contained in history books.
