Creative background:
In the winter of the twenty-fourth year of Shaoxing (1154), Lu You wrote the five poems "Quejue on Plum Blossoms" in Shanyin . After that, Lu You sang plum poems almost half the year, and plum blossoms accompanied him throughout his long life. Lu You's "Bu Suanzi: Yong Mei" is a well-known masterpiece. There are also two poems in "Weinan Collected Works" to the tune of "Chaozhongcuo".
In the "Jiannan Poetry Draft", there are about 150 poems with titles such as Ode to Plum Blossoms, Exploring Plum Blossoms, Observing Plum Blossoms, and Farewell to Plum Blossoms. Of course, this is only a rough statistic, and there are countless mentions of plum blossoms in other poems. Lu You is one of the eight great chrysanthemum-loving poets in ancient times. He is also nicknamed "Haitang Dian". He mentions hundreds of kinds of flowers in his poems.
There is such a record in Zhou Bida's "Erlaotang Poetry Talk": During the Zhenghe period, Cheng Qi, the prefect of Luling, had a long history in learning, especially Gongshi, and had been in the county for six years. Duan Zichong, a county man named Uncle Qian, was a man of extraordinary knowledge and called himself Qiansou. The county recommended the eight lines of the leftovers and made strong remarks. I sang the quatrains of "Plum Blossom" with Cheng, and I recited a thousand poems in the morning, and those who knew it already marveled at its richness.
