How did the word "mm-hmm" come into being?
In 2002, Fengjing began to build tourism in the ancient town. I was ordered to set up a tourism company and start overall planning and construction. The first step of construction is to determine the entrance to the scenic spot. When building the portal, we began to consider the inscription on the door workshop. In order to reflect the local culture of Fengjing, I thought of several words at that time, such as Anu House and Ala House. Later, I decided to call them "mm-hmm". "Wuwuwu" is a Wu accent, which means "I" and "mine". "Ooli" should be "in the house", which means home, and the conjunction means "my home". "Oh, Li" and "in the room" have different meanings. For these two words, I went to Shanghai Normal University to consult a language expert. I remember I was the director of the evaluation committee of senior Chinese teachers in Shanghai. I put forward my own ideas: for the sake of beautiful fonts, emphasizing appreciation, and for the sake of rich food in Fengjing, the word "mouth" was added to all four words. The old professor agreed to my idea after thinking about it and put forward three reasons to support my idea. I can't remember the details. With the consent of the experts, I boldly carved the words "well, well, well" on the front door and opened the "well, well, well, well" restaurant, becoming a brand hotel in Fengjing.
"Mm-hmm" means "my home". I was not used to it at the beginning and made a lot of jokes. Now, "Mm-hmm" has become a bit famous in East China.
