The most terrible image in the film is Annabel, a doll possessed by evil spirits, which is the treasure of the town hall in the strange things exhibition hall of Ed and Warren (the investigator of abnormal phenomena in the film and the real person). Director Wen Shenghao redesigned the image of this doll, giving it a more ferocious appearance. In real life, Annabel is just an ordinary rag doll.

Donna's mother bought this Annabel doll for her in a toy store in 1970. At that time, Donna was already a college student and shared a room with her roommate Angie. At first, she didn't think anything was wrong with the doll. But as time went on, they found that Annabel seemed to be moving all the time, leaving a little bit where she had just stayed, and seemed to be tearing other dolls, but everything was only a slight phenomenon. However, after a few weeks, it was obvious that the doll would move by itself. Donna and Angie always find Annabel on the bed or sofa when they come back from the door.

Donna and Angie's friend Roy hate this doll. He thinks it's evil, but the girl who is a college student doesn't believe it. They think there must be some reasons to explain these phenomena. But soon Annabel became more and more weird. Donna began to find many parchments with words written on them indoors, which would say "Save us" or even "Save Roy"! The strangest thing is that there is no parchment in this room. Where did these documents come from? !

Things continue to escalate. One night, Donna came home and found Annabel lying in bed with blood on her hands, or red marks, like the doll's own blood. A few days later, he planned to go out to play with Angie, but he heard someone walking in Donna's room. Who is this intruder? Roy crept to the door, suddenly pushed it open, and found no one in the room. Everything was fine, and the doll stayed quietly in the corner. When he approached Annabel, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest, tore his shirt and found a paw print-like scar, tearing his flesh. He knew it was Annabel.

The scar like paw prints healed quickly and almost disappeared after two days, as if it had never appeared on Roy's chest. Donna and the others feel they need help. They turned to the Anglican Church for help. The two priests in the church are named Ed and Warren.

Warren quickly came to the conclusion that an evil soul possessed the doll. Moreover, dolls have no human characteristics, just a pile of rags. So the ultimate goal of evil spirits is to rob the real body. It is attached to Annabel, close to human beings, and its actual goal is Donna.

A priest performed an exorcism ceremony in the apartment, and then Warren and Ed put the doll in a bag and drove the car back with the bag. They didn't choose the highway, fearing that evil spirits would be possessed by high-speed trucks, causing terrible traffic accidents, so they chose to take the path, and strange things happened. The engine kept turning off, the steering wheel stuck again and again, and then the brakes failed. In desperation, Ed took the doll out of the bag and threw it away.

After returning to his residence, Ed put the doll on his desk. As a result, Annabel floated gently, several times before and after, and finally quieted down.
