The origin of the name

"Guizhou" was the name of Guiyang in history.

Guiyang began to be called "Guizhou" in the early Northern Song Dynasty. According to local records, in the early years of Northern Song Dynasty, a Yi ancestor Wuman (formerly called Wuman, or Lulu, also known as Lulu) occupied Guiyang and established a minority regime.

In the seventh year of Song Taizu Kaibao (974), Pugui, the leader of the Wu people, paid tribute to the Song Dynasty, and Zhao Kuangyin, Song Taizu, wrote the Book of Pugui, which said, "Only Guizhou is far away." At the same time, "give the baron to the edge of town." After that, the name "Guizhou" began to appear in government official documents and history books.
