Zhu Yuanzhang asked Liu Bowen to write poems. Liu Bowen said, why did Zhu Yuanzhang grieve?

Because Zhu Yuanzhang used to be poor and didn't read many books, he always suspected that literati would laugh at him. So, once I saw Liu Bowen write: "I, man of great talent, am always ashamed." He felt that this was Liu Bowen's suggestion that he had treated him badly, and he was very angry.

Liu Bowen was an adviser in the early Ming Dynasty. He was very good at Feng Shui. In fact, he is also good at writing poems. 1376, Zhu Yuanzhang had a whim and asked Liu Ji to write a poem. So Liu Ji wrote "Friends of Cambodian Hanlin Hanlin in Mukden Hall at the beginning of the year":

On the branches, it was announced in early spring that Bobilong Forest was in the imperial ditch. The flag often moves thousands of officials and rings all over the guests. If milk dew falls from the sky, it is not a cloud to embrace Cui Hua. I am a talented minister, and I am ashamed of my old age.

This poem was originally a very common celebration occasion, but Zhu Yuanzhang always suspected that Liu Ji was dissatisfied with him. When he saw the sentence "I'm all talented and I'm always ashamed", I felt that I found the evidence: he was so kind to Liu Ji, and Liu Ji also wrote "Whitehead is incompetent". This Liu Ji is really dissatisfied, and he is so angry that he is half dead.

Although Zhu Yuanzhang over-interpreted this, he suspected that Liu Ji's dissatisfaction with him was not groundless.

At the beginning of the reign of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, Liu Bowen was named Cheng and a surname, and his official position was not high. Liu Ji is an upright man. He is very disgusted with Li Shanchang, a favorite of Zhu Yuanzhang, and often courts Li Shanchang and Liu Ji. Although Zhu Yuanzhang generally didn't take part in the struggle between the two, he devoted himself to Li Shanchang. So for Li Shanchang, Liu Ji nature is jealous. In Zhu Yuanzhang's view, Liu Ji must be resentful that he didn't give him a high enough official position.

Zhu Yuanzhang later reused Hu recommended by Li Shanchang. At this time, Liu Ji had taken a back seat, but Zhu Yuanzhang still didn't trust him and deliberately asked him what he thought of Hu. Liu Ji knows what to say, but he has his own bottom line, saying that Hu is a traitor. Now Zhu Yuanzhang thinks that Liu Ji is very dissatisfied with himself. In the final analysis, Zhu Yuanzhang refused to face up to the situation of his courtiers, blindly feared Liu Ji, and tried to be a gentleman with the heart of a villain.
