In 1983, he was transferred from the Nanyang Commune reporting team to the Yancheng Huai Opera Troupe as a full-time screenwriter. He successively created "The Lover", "Moon to the Mid-Autumn Festival", "Apricot Blossom Spring Rain", and "Heritage Dream" , "Gu Man Tang Family Affair" and other plays.

In the autumn of 1986, he began to conceive and create the Huai opera "Trivial Trivia", and began to cooperate with Chen Ming from the third draft. The play has won the 6th National Best Screenplay Award, the "Five Ones" Project Award, and the Wenhua Award.
