On the 19th, "Where is the Time?" was released.

Two days ago, the film "Where's the Time?" directed by Jia Zhangke and co-produced by BRICS directors was released. Five directors, five short films, took a propositional composition on the same theme.

The reporter's biggest feeling after watching the film is that it is really difficult for this kind of collective film to perform well. First of all, several films have different styles, which makes it difficult to coordinate the viewing experience, but the biggest problem is that the quality of the five short films "Where is Time?" is relatively uneven. Although all five short films are art films, some stories make people want to say hello, and some stories make people want to leave.

let me introduce these five short films first. The five short films are roughly arranged in the order of "BRICS", with Brazil (B), Russian (R), Indian (I), South Africa (S) and China (C) filmed by Jia Zhangke as the finale.

The first story is called Trembling Earth, which is a semi-documentary, and is based on real events. On November 5, 215, the reservoir dam of an iron mine company in the state of Skillas, Bacina, collapsed, and several towns in the state were washed away by the turbulent mudslide, leaving tens of thousands of residents homeless.

The short film features a boy and his mother. The boy's father disappeared in the disaster, and the peace of a family of three was destroyed. The boy didn't believe that his father had left him and waited for his father to come back every day.

if the perfect score is 5, I will give this short film a score of 3.5. The director's lens use and editing are relatively mature, and the theme is relatively serious. The only fly in the ointment is that the story uses the documentary method, and the plot is relatively weak, which makes it difficult for people to concentrate for a long time.

The second story, called Breathing, was shot by a Russian director, and it is also my personal favorite among the five stories.

at the beginning of the short film, the camera is aimed at the vast snowfield, which is covered with glaciers and deserted. The heroine travels in the snowfield on a green leather train and returns to her home in that hut. Such a picture is easily reminiscent of the Korean emotional film "Men and Women", and the theme is also very similar, telling the repressed relationship between men and women.

The hut is located in a quiet valley, which is also cold and lonely. At home, the heroine's unstable alcoholic husband is losing his temper and burning his wife's underwear.

as soon as the wife came home, she had a fierce conflict with her husband. The husband questioned his wife, why did the train driver give him an accordion? Was it an affair with the train driver? The accordion was burnt out by her husband, and her wife was sitting alone in the ice and snow with the broken accordion in her arms, playing a broken tone.

Back in the house, the husband melted their wedding rings in anger. The two wrestled together, and the husband chased his wife out all the way, trying to beat her up. Unexpectedly, he fell from a height in the middle and had an asthma attack, so he couldn't breathe.

From here on, the short film took a miraculous turn. Instead of running away from her husband, the wife dragged her husband home and made a simple oxygen inhalation device for him to keep him alive. When she found that the oxygen inhalation device was not very useful, she gently cut a hole in her husband's throat, inserted a rubber tube, connected the accordion, and pulled the accordion to inject oxygen into her husband's chest.

I have to say that this plot is really a big brain. When the husband, who barely kept breathing, asked, "How much time can I live?", his wife, who was playing a broken accordion next to him, said, "I am your living time."

When the camera zooms in, my wife's cabin is still standing alone in Amb Lee, and there is intermittent accordion sound in the room, which seems to be sobbing. Did the wife finally stop playing the accordion? What if I stop playing the accordion? This is the suspense left at the end of the film.

After watching this short film, some viewers commented: "Reminiscent of the history and present situation of Russia as a nation and country, this short film can be said to reveal a relationship very cleverly: the abused have long lived for the abuser, and this kind of oxygen supply is hidden under the seemingly romantic act of playing the organ. Ironically, the organ is an entertainment prohibited by the abuser. The question now is how long the endless playing can last. You know, once you stop playing this lamb, it will be a long-term abuser. "

This paragraph is also my highest score, 4.5 points. Of course, there may be some personal aesthetic preferences in it.

The third story, filmed by an Indian director, is called Fog in Mumbai, which is relatively simple and easy to understand. Personally, I scored 3.5 points.

The third story tells about an old man who was "rich" and was surrounded by his children in his later years, but no one really cared about his life. It was not until he met Charlie, a street child, that he really gained care, innocence and happiness.

Unexpectedly, just as the old man and Charlie established a friendship that they forgot about the New Year, Charlie was suddenly kidnapped by traffickers and disappeared. The old man searched everywhere for Charlie but failed, and died in depression.

The advantage of this short film is that the emotional communication between the old man and the children is real, which makes the off-screen audience feel happy, and focuses on the serious problem of missing children in India, which has practical significance.

But the failure of the short film lies in the ending. In fact, the story just stays in the plot of the old man looking for the child, and the audience can fully understand what is going on. The director had to arrange for the old man to die, filmed the funeral scene, and read the old man's last words "Only you gave me happy and happy time" to forcibly echo the theme, with a deliberate sense of summing up the topic at the end, which lowered the final impression of the short film.

The fourth short film was shot in South Africa. The plot is really almost incomprehensible, maybe the cultural gap is too big.

The name of this short film is Rebirth, which is a science fiction theme. It tells the story of a future female worker who entered the time machine and traveled back to the virgin forest of South Africa in the process of finding herself.

First of all, I want to say that science fiction itself is a very difficult subject to shoot, and South Africa's own film industry is not developed, which makes the visual effect in this short film quite terrible. The setting of the short film is obviously in the future with advanced technology, but all the props are full of cheapness. The only valuable thing is the drone flying in the air, but the drone looks more like a style that can be seen everywhere on the streets of West Lake ... Since it is in the future, shouldn't the drone look more fashionable?

The fifth short film was shot by Jia Kechang himself. Personally, I think it is very general, and I can only score 2.5 points. This short film is called "Every Spring", which is more like the propaganda film of Pingyao ancient city and the national second child policy. The short film tells the story of "Pingyao middle-aged couples are very entangled in whether to have a second child".

At the beginning of the movie, the male host dressed as a soldier fought against the chivalrous man, and the tourists in Pingyao ancient city took selfie sticks to enjoy the program (OK, I know Pingyao ancient city can watch such programs), and the tour guide with a trumpet loudly introduced that "Pingyao ancient city has a history of ×× thousand years" (OK, OK, I know), and the heroine played by Zhao Tao dressed as a maid-in-waiting performed the program in the scenic spot.

it doesn't matter as long as the story is told, but what kind of story did section chief Jia tell? At first, Zhao Tao's wife listened to her colleagues' encouragement and wanted to have a second child. When she went back, she told her husband that it was too expensive to have a second child. Milk powder and diapers cost money. Zhao Tao was not very happy. The two struggled for a while, and they didn't know how her husband figured it out. They came back to persuade Zhao Tao: "Why don't we have one? The problem of money can be solved." Zhao Tao: "I am old, I am 38 years old." Husband: "Director Jia of the crew said that 38 years old can only be regarded as middle-aged among directors, so time is relative. This is called relativity." Audience: This joke is really not funny ...

Some viewers pointed out the problem of "Every Spring", which is a bit similar to the Indian film "Fog in Mumbai": "Every Spring was vaguely expressed in the first half, but at the end, it was just like catching up with the show, and it was directly said by Zhao Tao. In fact, with some details in the film, the director conveyed a message to the audience from the beginning, that is, the feelings of the husband and wife in the film faded. Rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and tea have killed too many feelings between husband and wife. The mentality of "living" can easily lead to a dull and lifeless life, but the second child needs "life". The relationship between husband and wife is in a state of' death'. How can we have a second child? Zhao Tao said,' Time has taken away too many things from me. As long as we are willing, we can get back what time took away.' At the end of these words, the heartfelt feelings revealed are too strong, and the meaning of "naming the center and summarizing the full text" is too strong. In fact, it can be expressed by the excellent performance of the actors and the steady narrative of the directors. Can't the audience see it? "

perhaps, the space is too short.
