Song Wan Academy was founded in Zhenyuan period of Tang Dynasty (785-804), formerly known as Hongzhi. In the 11th year of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty (1498), Zhou Mu, a politician who participated in power in Zhejiang Province, was transformed into Song Wan Academy. Wang Yangming, a neo-Confucian in the Ming Dynasty, gave lectures here. Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty wrote an inscription "Zhejiang Hydrological Fu" for the Academy, which was later renamed Wenfu Academy. At present, there is still a memorial arch with the words "a famous teacher through the ages" inscribed on it, and the image of Confucius as the most holy teacher is engraved on the stone tablet.

Legend of Liang Zhu:

Butterfly Lovers is one of the four folk love myths and legends in China. It tells the story of Zhu Yingtai, the daughter of Zhuyuan in Shangyu, Zhejiang Province, disguised as a man and went to Hangzhou to study. On the way, I met Liang Shanbo, a scholar from Huiji. They hit it off, so they married Jin Lan in Liu Yin, and then they studied at Song Wan College in Hangzhou for more than three years.
