3) Treat the freshly cut flowers with hot water (optional).

Immediately after cutting the flowers, insert the stems into hot water at about 44 degrees Celsius, and then put the vase in the shade for 1-2 hours. Hot water molecules move up the stem more easily, and flowers lose less water in cold air. Under the dual action of hot water and cold air, flowers absorb more water, thus prolonging the shelf life.

In order to facilitate the fixation, the method of base incision is generally adopted, that is, after cutting according to the modeling needs of the flower material, several knives are cut longitudinally at the incision to form several small gaps, so that the flower can be inserted into the vase holder smoothly. This phenomenon is not only beneficial to the fixation of flower branches, but also to enlarge the wound surface, which is beneficial to the absorption of water by flower branches.

Oblique incision fixation method:

In the treatment of flower arrangement materials, in addition to cutting branches of thick and hard woody flowers, oblique cutting is used for general woody flowers and hard herbal flowers. Such as silver willow, wintersweet, Chinese cymbidium and so on. It is advisable to insert flowers obliquely. If an upright branch is inserted, simply insert the pedicel downward to insert the flower arrangement. If you want to insert it into an inclined shape, you can first insert the flower branches into an upright shape, and then push the flower branches in the direction that needs to be inclined.

Attached branch fixing method:

Some herbaceous flowers are soft in texture, and some pedicels are delicate, such as hibiscus, carnation and calendula, which are difficult to fix on the receptacle. We can only fix them by attaching branches. The method is to take a short branch and tie it to the base of floral art with rope or metal wire to expand the contact surface between the flower branch and the receptacle, so that it is not easy to lodging when the flower branch is inserted into the receptacle. If there are hollow or loose plants, such as calla lilies and reeds, they can also be attached to branches. The method is to intercept a small piece of proofreading and insert it in the receptacle, and then insert the hollow part of the flower branch in the twig, which is also effective.

Winding method:

In order to support some flower branches and overcome the morphological defects of flowers, flowers can be made into spirals. Wrap a metal wire hard enough, bend the branch, and bend it according to your own ideas. But the metal wire should not be too thick, and it will not affect the ornamental effect of flower arrangement. When necessary, the metal wire can be wrapped with a layer of green cotton paper or painted with green paint. In this way, the bending degree of the flower branches can be changed freely. This method is suitable for treating soft flower branches.

Keep fresh

1) Put the flowers in a big clean vase.

Be sure to be clean to avoid being infected by microorganisms such as bacteria. The bottleneck of the container should be wide enough to accommodate the flower stem.

Flowers with different lengths of stems should be put in different vases, so that each flower can be seen.

2) Put the flowers in warm water.

The roots of flowers should be put in water. Warm water is beneficial to the absorption of flowers. If the previous "strengthening" step is not carried out, water close to room temperature should be added to the vase. Flowers with bulbs are suitable for cold water.

3) Say the important things three times

Remove the leaves underwater. Leaves under water may rot and breed bacteria, thus infecting the whole flower. Whenever you see leaves under the water, you should remove them.

Change the water every day to keep the flowers fresh. Before adding fresh water, make sure there is no residue in the vase to reduce the bacterial infection rate.

Even if there is fixed foam under the flower branches, it needs to be immersed in water. Let the foam sink naturally, don't press it down, or the bubbles will stay in the stem.

Prune every time you change water, at least every few days. Cut a 45-degree slope with scissors or a knife. This can increase the contact area between the stem and the water and make it absorb more water.

4) Use flower preservative.

Flower preservatives are available in flower shops, gardening shops and supermarkets. Preservatives contain all the nutrients needed for flower growth: sugar for energy supply, acid for color protection and maintaining the pH of water, and bactericide for killing bacteria and fungi. Use according to the instructions.

5) Stay away from harmful environment.

Flowers should avoid direct sunlight, heaters or other heat sources such as the top of TV sets. Don't put it in the same room as the fruit. The ethylene released by the fruit will make the flowers wither. Heating, breeze and even cold wind will accelerate water loss and shorten the fresh-keeping period of flowers.

6) Pick off withered flowers.
