In April 2006, during construction in Sudan 3/7 area, due to Party A’s design reasons, leakage occurred in two consecutive wells starting from the third well. In the past, Team 1205 mainly focused on drilling vertical wells. In order to realize the transformation from a single well type to a variety of well types, Li Xinmin went to the brothers' well team to ask for advice and even learned from the class whenever he had free time. In May 2000, Team 1205 started drilling its first directional well. Due to adequate technical preparation, the directional well was drilled in just seven days, two days ahead of schedule. When he first came out of school and came to Team 1205, Li Xinmin was relatively weak. At that time, the team was competing. Twice, he was unable to do so due to lack of skills. After passing the customs, he was kicked off the drilling platform on the spot. From then on, every time after swinging the drill pipe, he would go up to the drill floor to practice opening the tongs, not even ten times at a time, not even a hundred times. His arms were swollen and his hands were bruised, but he didn't care at all.

In April 1992, Li Xinmin took up the position of technician. Less than three months after working as a technician, a stuck pipe was encountered during the construction of a difficult well. In November 2003, the 1205 team was updating a well with damaged casing in the central area. In June 2004, while drilling a well in the South Fourth District, due to continuous rainfall, the equipment on the well site was deeply sunk in the muddy water and could not be hung with ropes. Li Xinmin was the first to rush into the muddy water and fumbled with the lanyard with his hands. His work shoes were soaked and his clothes were soaked, but he didn't care at all. When the drillers saw the captain doing this, they also waded into knee-deep muddy water.

As the captain, Li Xinmin sets an example in every aspect. During the directional construction of an oil well, barite powder is urgently needed, but the water around the well site is half a meter deep. Vehicles cannot enter the well site and can only unload it on the road more than 200 meters away. If it is not transported to the well site in time, It will affect production. When we first arrived in Sudan, the area we were in wanted to promote horizontal wells, and we wanted to find a well team that could play a leading role. Although our 1205 team is well-known in China, Party A just went abroad and Party A didn’t know us well and didn’t want to give us this task at first. After hearing the news, I immediately went to visit Party A and proposed to drill the well; then, I sent our analysis of the well and a letter of challenge from everyone in the team. I replied: "This job I dare to take it, we can do it!" After several days of discussion, Party A finally decided to hand over the well to our 1205 team.
