Jining dialect * * * has 2 1 initials, 35 finals and 4 basic tones. Compared with Putonghua, its characteristics are mainly manifested in the following four aspects:

First, there is no difference between the initials before the tip of the tongue and the initials after the tip of the tongue. Such as "four things". The pronunciation of the two words before and after the horizontal line is exactly the same. In Mandarin, before the former is pronounced on the tip of the tongue, the initials of ancient Japanese (such as Japanese, human and meat) are all pronounced as tongue-sticking, while in Jining dialect, they are all pronounced as flat tongue.

Second, Hua Er has an influence on initials. In Mandarin and common dialects, vowels will be affected to some extent after syllables are inflected. In Jining dialect, Hua Er not only affects vowels, but also seriously affects initials.

Thirdly, in terms of tone, Jining dialect has two tone categories with basically the same tone type (both falling tone and falling tone), and the tone values are not much different (2 13 and 3 12 respectively), which is not as clear and easy to distinguish as Mandarin tone categories.

Fourthly, vowels are monosyllabic and nasalized. For example, vowels such as ai and au in Putonghua are mostly pronounced as single vowels in Jining dialect. The vowels such as ei and ou in Putonghua are not obvious enough in Jining dialect. Jining dialect is pronounced as nasal vowel.
