Is motorcycles banned in Chongqing?

Motorcycles are not allowed in Chongqing.

As a big city without a motorcycle ban, Chongqing has very strict control over motorcycles and driving must be regulated. Moreover, Chongqing is also a production base for large motorcycles. The reason why Chongqing is not like other big cities is that The main reason for the ban on motorcycles is related to Chongqing's unique terrain. Many road buildings in Chongqing are built against mountains. The roads are narrow and winding. If motorcycles are banned, it will affect people's travel efficiency to a certain extent.

Except for the two sections of expressway, the Inner Ring Expressway and Airport Road, motorcycles can pass freely in other areas, and Chongqing’s no-motorcycle policy has been maintained for more than 30 years without any interference from the outside world. Mountainous roads are steep, also known as mountain cities. There are slopes everywhere. It will be difficult for bicycles and electric vehicles to travel on these roads. For people who cannot afford cars, motorcycles have become the only choice.
