Baihe National Wetland Park in Nanyang, Henan Province is located in the north-central part of Nanyang, which is distributed in a strip shape from north to south, mainly including Yahekou Reservoir, the lower reaches of Baihe River and certain surrounding areas. Its geographical coordinates are: east longitude112 24' 55 "~112 40' 50" and north latitude 33 4' 20 ". Total planned area 17276.2 hectares.

The wetland park takes large artificial lakes and natural rivers with abundant water as the core, and features a composite wetland ecosystem composed of permanent rivers, floodplain wetlands, large reservoirs and ponds, and canals/water conveyance rivers. It is typical in Henan Province and representative in the Central Plains. The total wetland area of the park is 13076.5 hectares, accounting for 75.7% of the total land area.

Wetland Park is located in the middle line of the three major migration routes in China. Its open waters, good water quality, extensive and diverse habitats and numerous surrounding farmland provide an important place for migratory birds to stop and feed in Nanyang section. Wetland park is an important node in the middle line of migratory birds' migration route in China.

Wetland Park is located in the transitional zone between subtropical zone and warm temperate zone in China. The transitional climate provides diverse habitats for the growth of animals and plants. The investigation shows that there are 900 species of higher vascular plants in the wetland park, 2 species of national first-class protected plants and 7 species of national second-class protected plants, including Myriophyllum wusuli, wild water chestnut, wild soybean, lotus, buckwheat and Zoysia japonica. There are 256 species of wild vertebrates, 3 species of national first-class protected animals, and 2/kloc-0 species of national second-class protected animals, including black storks, swans, cygnets and osprey. There are 154 species of amphibians, birds and mammals that are beneficial or have important economic and scientific research value listed in the List of National Key Protected Terrestrial Wild Animals. Wetland Park is also located in the ecological corridor of the Middle Route of South-to-North Water Transfer Project in China.

The wetland park is dominated by Yahekou Reservoir and Baihe River, and runs through the upper forest landscape, the middle rural pastoral landscape and the lower modern urban landscape, creating a composite wetland landscape with different styles and characteristics. At the same time, the wetland park also contains profound regional history and culture, unique Henan folk culture, rich wetland ecological culture, heavy Han culture and Three Kingdoms culture, and the huge urban and rural population around the wetland park, which has laid a tourist foundation for developing popular science education and ecological leisure.

Adhering to the guiding ideology of "protection first, scientific restoration, rational utilization and sustainable development", Wetland Park integrates wetland protection, restoration and restoration, wetland function and wetland culture display, wetland science popularization and education, wetland scientific research and monitoring, and wetland ecotourism, and is divided into four functional areas: conservation area, restoration and reconstruction area, education exhibition area and management service area.

The conservation area mainly includes the Yahekou Reservoir and its surrounding water conservation forest in a certain range, as well as the downstream Baihe reach. The protected area is 16 196.7 hectares, accounting for 93.8% of the total area of the wetland park. This area is the main body and ecological matrix of wetland park, the strategic water source of Nanyang city, and the main habitat of many creatures represented by waterfowl. On the basis of strictly protecting the existing water bodies, animals and plants and their habitats, the region plans to carry out moderate ecological restoration and restoration, build good hydrological links, create good habitats, and create a paradise for waterfowl to inhabit.

The restoration and reconstruction area mainly includes the lowest section of Baihe River in Wetland Park. It is planned to standardize the existing sand mining behavior, reconstruct the good river hydrological characteristics through dredging the water system, create a good ecological waterfront, moderately restore and repair the waterfowl habitat, and create a good waterfowl habitat paradise in the river corridor.

The mission exhibition area mainly includes the dam of Yahekou Reservoir and the flood discharge area of Liujiao Line. Mainly through the combination of outdoor and indoor publicity, we will build a wetland publicity center, a wetland publicity corridor and a wetland culture corridor, build a wetland science popularization base, spread wetland scientific knowledge and raise people's awareness of wetland protection.

Management service area includes wetland park management, service institutions and facilities, mainly including wetland park management bureau and wetland protection management station.

Through planning and construction, Baihe Wetland will be built:

Nanyang is a high-quality and sufficient water source and ecological security barrier, and a paradise for waterfowl to inhabit!

A national wetland park with outstanding overall image, complete infrastructure, unique wetland landscape, popular science education and sightseeing, and China charm!
