Mother's Day originated from ancient Greece and is a holiday to thank mothers in the West. The Chinese nation has a long and splendid ethical civilization and attaches great importance to parent-child love and benevolence. Therefore, Mother's Day in China is a festival of filial piety and gratitude.

On the eve of Mother's Day, volunteer representatives of the Fengxian Love and Righteous Volunteer Team, teachers from Fengcheng Academy in Fengxian County, and elementary school students came to the Huankou Town Social Welfare Institute to spend the holiday with 103 elderly people.

The elderly in welfare homes are a special group. They have no spouses and no children. As they grow older, they lose the ability to work but have no one to take care of them. Their old age is miserable. They are five-guaranteed households supported by the government. They have no worries about food and clothing but cannot have family happiness. They are a group of lonely old people who long for love and warmth.

After more than an hour’s drive, we arrived at our destination at 9:30. The Huankou Town Social Welfare Institute, which has been closed all year round, has opened its doors to us!

Under the early summer sunshine, the red academy flag, red hat, red vest, and sky blue Chinese traditional school uniform are refreshing and eye-catching. The young disciples walked into the nursing home with the fragrance of wheat ears and flowers outside the courtyard. Their arrival was like a clear stream in the desert, infiltrating the dry hearts of the elderly.

We bought shoes and socks, brought fruits and cakes for the 103 elderly people here. The young disciples of the academy will wash the feet of the elderly, give gifts, perform performances, and spend a warm festival with the elderly.

Intense preparations: rinse the footbath, bring hot water, cold water, warm water, prepare towels, place stools, and decorate the venue. . . Every activity is inseparable from the silent efforts of the red vests. . .

We are young disciples of Fengcheng Academy in Feng County. We are affectionate, righteous and polite. We bow to the elderly first and say hello.

When the children splashed with warm water and brushed their young hands over the rough feet of the elderly, many elderly people instantly shed tears in their eyes - this is the warm time they have been looking forward to for so long!
