What is UI interface interaction design, and what does interaction design specifically mean?

Nowadays, interaction design is a very common problem, but many designers and developers still don't know its specific meaning. Today, the Jade Bird ui training teacher of Peking University will explain in depth the user interface and design principles that can make your website have good interactivity.

First of all, what is interaction design IxD?

Interactive design is a rapidly developing new field, which originated from some research reflecting design problems and was later recognized and accepted by professional designers.

Interactive design promotes the communication between people and the environment. Here we refer to the communication between people and websites. As long as interaction designers consider the interaction between users and computers, they don't have to consider all aspects of software or system involving users like UX designers. You may have heard of human-computer interaction in different universities-these degrees are basically cultivated in IxD field.

What should such a designer do?

Interaction designers will consider who is the target user of the product and who will use it. User researchers or information architects will provide this information. On the basis of these studies, it takes a long time for an interaction designer to communicate with the software for users, but this amazing interaction mode must be created as soon as possible.

Designers must identify key interactions and draw wireframes.

So keep sketching. Some designers will draw directly, some designers will use software to assist, and some designers will create interfaces individually or cooperatively.

Interactive design (IxD) constantly presents new ways of interaction, because users always expect new things to appear on the website. But interaction designers need to realize how these functions will affect users, and then choose what they really want to realize and what they can put on hold for a while.

Below we will see some concepts that promote interaction design.

Goal-driven design

Although IxD does not need to be done, in order to get the best design feedback, user research is very important. When users use software, they usually have some goals, and your application should meet these goals well. In order to successfully combine design and function, user research is precisely the most important element.

This is very important. Many user researchers can find jobs as interaction designers because they have the skills to analyze human behavior patterns used in software.

simplify

People don't know what a user interface is. Actually, they don't care. They don't know that someone is planning everything they see behind the website. All they know is that they need a simple website. They want a simple and easy-to-use system with fast loading/response speed, which will not make users think and give them painful reasons.

Scenes and patterns

Some products we use are usually designed with clear functions, and everyone knows how to use them. Take scissors as an example. A three-year-old knows how to use it. Two fingers are glued into two rings, and there is only one way to use them. Nothing is simpler than this. Your website should be as easy to use as scissors.

Why is the word "scene" used here? Because this word expresses the function of some columns behind a website or system.

With regard to patterns, the user interface should be composed of a series of components familiar to users. If users want to submit a form, they will first find the submit button. This button is a common element, and designers don't have to repeat the early wheel every time they accept a new project.

Some people will say that imitating the existing model and not rebuilding the wheel will make people feel uninspired. It is an idiot to discuss innovation without ensuring usability. Remember, usability and innovation are two different things.

If you want to innovate, you still need to know the known patterns. But if you pursue high usability, no one encourages you to make wheels repeatedly, because users need time to get used to your wheels.

Creating a highly user-friendly system requires interaction designers to have a deep understanding of conventions, scenarios and website usability.

Now that you know some principles of interaction design, let's see how a great interaction design affects users.

Visitor positioning

Interaction designers need to know which users their designs are aimed at, so that they can locate their products through users.

The page shows where the user stays, and this experience will not confuse the user when browsing. Users can also know how to jump from one page to another. It is important to let users know their current location and not let them walk into a dead end. This interactive experience is very bad when the search does not find out the results and does not tell the user the choice of the next operation.

Continuous dialogue

Interaction design concentrates a lot of energy on giving users continuous feedback. Telling users whether what they are doing is right or wrong, even on an unconscious level, is a popular element for users.

You just need to tell users that they have succeeded when they finish the action.

When you buy something on Amazon, you will be confirmed in the browser and email. When you submit an email through the contact form, you will be confirmed in the page.

This makes interaction not only stop at website browsing and function use, but also take interaction to a new height: it helps users to better understand their current status, minimize doubts and problems, and eliminate users' frustration.

Thinking about workflow

IxD should also consider workflow. If you have a registration form, what will happen if users use it to submit information? Will the page refresh, jump to the home page, display confirmation information, jump to the login page, or jump to the first two pages at the same time?

It provides a variety of options to choose the network that suits your users.

All the elements mentioned by expectanciesbest. Is part of the workflow of the website. Every interaction should have the next logical step, which is consistent with the experience created by your previous website.

Visual hierarchy

In order to let users do what you want, you can help them with the visual level. You can use layout, element size and color combination to achieve visually outstanding effects, thus guiding users' eyes.

You can also use the visual hierarchy to let users find what they want. Do you want to rent a car? Make sure you can use the visual hierarchy to guide users to the "rental" page.

Good wireframe tool

Sketching and wireframe drawing are so important that I want to show you some useful tools so that you can start interactive design immediately.

Mockingbird

Mockingbird is a web-based application in which users can create, connect, preview and share block diagrams of websites or applications. Its interface is simple and friendly. Users can drag and drop elements, resize them and even share them with colleagues through a link.

Because Imitation Bird is a web-based application, it means that you can create and modify your ideas on any computer anywhere.

LovelyCharts

LovelyCharts is an online charting application that allows users to create flowcharts, organization charts, site maps and flowcharts.

The main feature of this application is to make suggestions based on what you have drawn _ this helps to simplify the drawing process, and it is easy to return to the old version and undo the changes.

Analog flow

MockFlow is also a good Web application, which has a clean and simple organizational interface and a wide range of functional features.

Drag-and-drop is also used, with built-in components ranging from charts to menus, advertisements and drop-down menus. You can upload your own pictures, or you can choose the general materials provided by the website, so the process of building a block diagram is very fast.

Simple chart

Finally, the Jade Bird ui training teacher of Peking University reminded everyone not to forget the importance of user testing, and to remember that innovation and usability usually go in the wrong direction. When creating a magical interactive interface, we should constantly innovate and focus on how to make it more convenient for people who use it.

With this in mind, you will become a great website or application interaction designer.
