Quit the club next semester.

I am used to writing bits and pieces in my notes, including but not limited to:

Your favorite sentences, some sudden inspiration, account passwords of various platforms, small feelings caused by something, etc. ...

In short, it is complicated and trivial to record all the miscellaneous things.

"Quit the club next semester."

That was a note I wrote in my winter vacation, and then I quit the club as soon as the second half of the semester started after the winter vacation.

When I left the club, the president asked me why, so I just made an excuse and said I didn't have time.

In fact, there are so many high-sounding reasons for quitting the club, which is nothing more than feeling bored and useless and not wanting to stay.

Although I do wander between studying, part-time job and official WeChat account, and time is not enough, I know that the most fundamental reason for resigning from the department is really the above explanation: boring and useless.

At first, the decision to quit the department was made up of countless trivial matters, which gradually formed over time. And this idea was fermented by something, which finally made me decide to quit.

The layout of a tweet has been changed for two weeks, with dozens of big changes and countless small changes. But the most annoying thing is the reason of senior members of the executive Committee:

"This typesetting always feels a bit strange, and then change it."

She didn't point out the problem of typesetting, which made people correct it. Instead, for a vague reason, even a strong personal preference, she made me correct it countless times.

And after the final version was finalized, she could still feel her dissatisfaction with typesetting, or for the same reason, "it felt strange."

Two weeks of editing and typesetting is a very torturous process.

This makes me very upset. I get agitated when I hear the news reminder, for fear that I will revise the typesetting again. So, at that time, I wrote that sentence on a note, "I will quit the club next semester."

Later, I followed my heart and gave up the club. I feel relaxed and free without the shackles of the club.

You don't have to attend the weekly meeting, the party held by the club on a whim, and most importantly, you won't be disturbed by unexpected trifles.

Of course, quitting the department will also lose something. It may be an opportunity to expand contacts, or some common PS skills. But I won't be disturbed by trifles. I think it's worth it.

I am not interested in expanding my contacts in the club, so I will be content to keep my own small circle; You don't need a club to teach PS, you can read books and teach yourself.

For me, the time I can spend flexibly is more important than what the club can bring me, so I have no regrets.

In fact, many people I contacted, like me, joined the club with the mentality of exercising themselves, then got lost in front of a pile of trivial and useless things and chose to quit the department.

This is because you will be shocked when you join the club for a period of time. It has a lot of red tape, but little physical exercise, and more people act as free labor.

For example, when students encounter any activities, they will force each department to produce several audiences.

Competitions, boring lectures, holiday parties, bad luck.

I'm not interested in any of this, and it doesn't mean anything to me.

However, if the club insists on not participating, it will be easily labeled as inactive and even accused by its predecessor several times.

An activity organized by a community is ostensibly physical exercise, but in essence it is to attract people to act as free labor. Put up all kinds of slogans, carry all kinds of equipment, publicize hard at the entrance of the canteen and distribute leaflets. ...

But the elders in the community always like to say, "We have also come step by step from trivial matters."

It makes sense at first. After all, ability training is a process from foundation to depth.

This truth should be established one by one, and should be based on the matching of pay and harvest. However, the cost in the community is far greater than the degree of exercise it brings to the ability.

Take the new media department I once participated in as an example. It can help people learn the basic tweet process, backstage operation rules and matters needing attention in text and picture arrangement, but it needs to spend a lot of spare time, and may interrupt their schedule at any time, act as free labor in activities, participate in a series of social gatherings, get together once a month in departments and so on.

But learn to tweet by yourself. Those skills learned in the club can be basically mastered by thinking in front of the computer for one day.

Since there is an efficient choice, there is no need to spend energy on useless trifles.

Perhaps the biggest problem of a community is inefficiency.

Because it has a huge number of people and involves too many details, even a small activity needs hundreds of people to be rigorous. It is inevitable that most people will sacrifice their time to do some useless chores.

More importantly, clubs often make people fall into a false sense of fulfillment, which makes people feel at ease, but it is useless.

Of course, everything is not absolute, and society naturally has its own advantages. But comparing all aspects, community is not the best choice.

If you want to exercise your ability, you can get substantial exercise by choosing organizations such as entrepreneurship.

If you want to do something meaningful, choosing teaching and volunteer organizations will provide more resources and opportunities.

But it is also true that most societies always have more forms than substance, so they are inefficient.

If you want to exercise your ability, suggest more targeted institutions, which will provide more substantial help.
