The history of Yuejin Road 1958

In the early days of liberation, after three years of national economic recovery, our country formulated the first five-year plan to develop the national economy. During this period, 156 new national-level key engineering projects were to be built. Mianyang, an ancient city with a history of more than 2,200 years, was fortunate to be selected. Construction of Changhong, Jiuzhou, Huafeng, and Fujiang wired power plants on Yuejin Road began one after another.

In 1958, this area was still a field. Because four military industrial companies had to move to Mianyang, they officially named it and started construction. The mark of its era can be seen from the name "Yuejin Road". The four military industries all have a military code name. Until now, the people living here are still accustomed to calling several companies by different code names in their daily lives. For example, 305 is Changhong, 203 is Jiuzhou, and 204 is Huafeng. 407 is Fujiang Cable Power Plant.

No one thought at the time that this street, which started construction in 1958 and was almost impossible to repair due to the withdrawal of all Soviet experts due to the "Sino-Soviet conflict", would kick off half a century of Mianyang's industrial development. road.

That year, a small street 10 meters wide and more than 500 meters long appeared in the north of the city. During the booming era of the Great Leap Forward, the small street was named: "Leap Forward Road".

In 1960, the former Soviet Union withdrew all its experts, and the design of the four factories was completed by the workers of these factories themselves; in 1964, the 404 Hospital to serve the four factories was planned to be built, and the Yuejin Road became the four hospitals it is today. A basic layout with a factory and a hospital lined up.

Across the road are the family areas built by several factories after 1970, which also cover the necessary places for employees' "food, clothing, housing and transportation". Take the community in Changhongchang as an example. In addition to the so-called "General Building" and "Singles Building" and other residential buildings that cater to different groups of people, there are also kindergartens, primary schools, lighted stadiums, barber shops, meat supply points, etc.

What is even more distinctive is the "No. 100 Building" built for employees by Fujiang Cable Power Plant. However, no one still remembers this name now, because these small buildings are built with red bricks and have no whitewashed exterior walls. They also use red bricks to spell out "Long Live Chairman Mao", "Sailing the sea depends on the helmsman", etc. With the eye-catching red slogans, more people directly call these buildings "red brick houses".

These red brick houses are very distinctive. The walls and facades of the buildings are directly adjacent to the sidewalk. This pattern is rare in Chinese cities. Some people say that this kind of scene and the style of the house are impressive. It can also be seen in German cities.

In the late 1970s, the four factories on Yuejin Road had more than 10,000 employees, and Mianyang was still a small county at that time.

In the early 1980s, with the adjustment of national policies, the demand for military products decreased significantly, and the planned orders that Yuejin Road expected always came late, so the four companies began to find their own way out.

In hindsight, Changhong was the company with the best development. Because it embarked on the road of producing televisions, Changhong reached its peak in the mid-1990s and became China's "King of Color TVs." Its image soared thanks to the slogan "It is our responsibility to shoulder the national industry."

In the 1990s, on this street with four factories, and even in the entire city of Mianyang, the gray-blue work clothes of the Changhong Factory became a symbol of honor. Wearing work clothes with the word "Changhong" printed on the chest and back when walking on the street, everyone looks at her with envy.

After entering the 21st century, Changhong's performance has become mediocre. At the same time, it has also moved most of its modern production workshops to larger and newer factories in the development zone. No. 4 Yuejin Road, as the place where the Changhong brand was born and reached its glory, can no longer take on more and more important tasks.

Mianyang has gradually developed from a county town to the second largest city in Sichuan with a population of nearly 5 million. With the increase in population and the expansion of the city, the location of Yuejin Road has also changed from the suburbs of the city in the past to the largest city in Sichuan. One of the areas close to the city center.

More than 50 years have passed, Changhong has become a world-renowned enterprise, Jiuzhou has built a tens of billions of enterprises, Huafeng has been merged and reorganized by Changhong, and Fujiang Cable Power Plant has completed bankruptcy liquidation.
