How long is the temporary license valid?

The validity period of the temporary license shall not exceed 30 days, as follows:

1. If it is used in an administrative area, the validity period of the temporary number plate will usually not exceed 15 days;

2, cross administrative regions, the temporary license plate is valid for no more than 30 days;

3. If it is a research and experimental vehicle, because it does not meet the national standards, there is no way to get a license plate, then the validity period of the temporary license plate will not exceed 90 days. For motor vehicles legally registered in the traffic management department, they can only drive on the road according to law. It takes some time to get a formal license plate, so they can get a temporary license plate and drive on the road.

The application materials for temporary license plate are as follows:

1, the original identity certificate of the motor vehicle owner (on-site verification) and its copy;

2, motor vehicle traffic accident liability compulsory insurance certificate original (on-site check) and a copy;

3, the original vehicle factory certificate (on-site check) and a copy of the imported motor vehicle import certificate and a copy;

4, the original proof of the origin of motor vehicles (on-site check) and a copy;

5. A written application indicating the driving area and driving time.

To sum up, it takes some time to apply for a formal license after a new car is picked up, so you can apply for a temporary license and use it on the road. However, it should be noted that the temporary license also has a corresponding validity period, and it cannot be used after the validity period, otherwise it will be illegal to go on the road.

Article 46 of the Regulations on Motor Vehicle Registration

When applying for a temporary driver's license, the owner of a motor vehicle shall submit the following documents and vouchers:

(a) the identity certificate of the owner of the motor vehicle;

(two) motor vehicle traffic accident liability compulsory insurance certificate;

(3) In case of any of the circumstances specified in Items (1) and (4) of Article 45 of these Provisions, the factory certificate of the whole vehicle or the import certificate of the imported motor vehicle shall also be submitted;

(4) In the case of Item (2) of Article 45 of these Provisions, the certificate of origin of the motor vehicle, the ex-factory certificate of the whole motor vehicle or the import certificate of the imported motor vehicle shall also be submitted;

(5) In case of the circumstances specified in Item (3) of Article 45 of these Provisions, a written application and a certificate of motor vehicle safety technical inspection shall also be submitted.

The vehicle management office shall, within one day from the date of acceptance, examine and submit the certificates and vouchers that belong to the situations specified in Item (1) and Item (2) of Article 45 of these Provisions and need to travel temporarily within their respective administrative areas, and issue a temporary driving license plate with a validity period of not more than 15 days; If it is necessary to drive temporarily across administrative regions, a temporary driving license plate with a validity period of no more than 30 days shall be issued. Under the circumstances specified in Item (3) and Item (4) of Article 45 of these Provisions, a temporary driving license with a validity period of no more than 90 days shall be issued.
