How to synchronize iPhone and iPad

Sync books to your device

Connect your device to your Mac.

You can connect your device using a USB or USB-C cable or use a Wi-Fi connection. To turn on Wi-Fi sync, see Sync content between your Mac and iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi.

In the Finder on Mac, select the device in the Finder sidebar.

Select "Books" in the button bar.

Select the "Sync books to [device name]" checkbox to turn on syncing of books.

When this checkbox is selected, sync is set to transfer all books to your device.

To sync selected books, select the "Selected Books" checkbox.

Select the checkbox of an individual book in the book list to sync. Deselect the checkboxes for any books you don't want to sync.

Click Books or PDFs to see content organized by category.

When you're ready to sync, click Apply.

You can choose to have your Mac and device sync automatically every time you connect. To turn on automatic sync, select General in the button bar, and then select Automatically sync when this [device] is connected.

Before you disconnect your device from your Mac, click the Eject button? in the Finder sidebar.

Remove auto-synced books from your device

To remove unwanted books from your Mac and device, delete the book from your Mac and sync your device.

To remove books from your device but keep them on your Mac, follow these steps:

Connect your device to your Mac.

You can connect your device using a USB or USB-C cable or use a Wi-Fi connection. To turn on Wi-Fi sync, see Sync content between your Mac and iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi.

In the Finder on Mac, select your device in the sidebar, then select Books in the button bar.

In the book list, deselect the checkbox for the book you want to remove.

Sync your Mac with your devices.

Warning If you delete automatically synced items from your Mac, the deleted items will also be removed from your device the next time you sync.

Before you disconnect your device from your Mac, click the Eject button? in the Finder sidebar.
