What does China Unicom mean by expanding short messages?

Unicom's extended short message service is abbreviated as EMP(Extend MessagePlatform), and the service opened on the EMP platform is an additional value-added service based on the ordinary short message service. Now the network runs six basic services: short message storage, short message signature, short message receipt, short message forwarding, short message firewall and emoticon short message.
