What is a weak seedling of wheat? How to strengthen management?

In the process of wheat growth, due to the interference of various factors, wheat can not grow according to the normal growth and development law, and the emergence situation is obviously different from the normal growth, which is usually considered as a weak seedling. Mainly manifested in:

(1) No tillering means that according to the law of tillering, tillers are not long, but long tillers do not appear. For example, the main stem should grow two tillers when it has five leaves, and four tillers when it has six leaves. When the wheat seedlings in the field grow to five or six leaves, there is no tiller, forming a single-stem seedling, or there is only one small tiller in a higher position, and the low tiller does not appear, which is called no tiller.

② There are no obvious swollen tillering nodes, and the roots are few and thin.

③ The plants are thin and grow slowly.

④ The leaves are yellow or short and dark with purple.

⑤ Early sowing and close planting, long in vain before winter, large population, excessive nutrient consumption, thin seedlings, reduced the cold resistance of wheat seedlings, prone to freezing or chilling injury in early spring, resulting in freezing or death of main stems and tillers. Such wheat seedlings are often transformed into weak seedlings because of overgrowth.

For the management of weak seedlings, we must first find out the reasons for the formation of weak seedlings and manage them symptomatically. Lack of fertilizer, drought, soil hardening, saline-alkali, phytotoxicity, too deep sowing and other reasons will cause weak seedlings. Generally, we should strengthen field management, suppress soil in early spring, loosen soil in intertillage, improve ground temperature, promote early growth and rapid growth of seedlings, and properly apply fertilizer and water to meet the growth needs of seedlings and promote weak growth. For weak seedlings transformed from overgrown seedlings, nitrogen fertilizer should be supplemented in time, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be properly combined to promote tillering growth and strive for panicle formation.
