The Yellow River Protection Law prohibits the cultivation of crops on steep slopes

Reclamation of barren slopes with a slope below or above five degrees must be approved by the water administrative department of the county-level people's government; reclamation of state-owned barren slopes must be approved by the water administrative department of the county-level people's government. You can apply to the people's government at or above the county level to handle land reclamation procedures.

Article 20 of the "Soil and Water Conservation Law of the People's Republic of China" prohibits the cultivation of crops on steep slopes above 25 degrees. When planting economic forests on steep slopes above 25 degrees, tree species should be selected scientifically, the scale should be reasonably determined, and water and soil conservation measures should be taken to prevent water and soil erosion.
