Where is the New Fourth Army slogan wall?
The New Fourth Army slogan wall is a patriotic education base.
The New Fourth Army slogan wall is located in Baihe Town, at the north end of the Baihe Town section of the Qingji Highway. The slogans on the wall are "Consolidate domestic unity and ensure domestic peace!", "We want peace and oppose civil war!" ". This revolutionary historical relic is unique in Shanghai and is also a precious witness to Qingpu’s revolutionary history. In 1994, the slogan wall was named Qingpu County Patriotism Education Base.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in August 1945, the New Fourth Army uniformly began to withdraw northward in accordance with the orders of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Along the way, the Political Department of the East Zhejiang Column of the New Fourth Army vigorously and resolutely wrote dozens of propaganda slogans beside the front houses of Baihejiu Qingpu Town and other villages. After the New Fourth Army retreated north, many slogans were destroyed. Two New Fourth Army propaganda slogans are clearly visible on a private house in Tangwan Village, Beixiangmen, old Qingpu and on the wall of the old Qingpu school.
In April 1990, the Shanghai Municipal Commission for Cultural Affairs built additional stone barges and reinforced the walls of the house. The following year, the Qingpu County Museum erected a protection sign here. The front of the stele is engraved with the words "Qingpu County Cultural Relics Protection Unit New Fourth Army Propaganda Slogan Qingpu County People's Government Announced in July 1995", and there is a brief historical explanation on the underside of the stele.
