I will explain it from the following aspects

1. What is "5S", namely sorting, rectifying, sweeping, cleanliness, and literacy? . An overall improvement in eliminating clutter, clutter, dirt, and improving the quality of employees.

"5S management" sounds simple, but it is not easy to actually implement it, and we need to persist. In many companies, the implementation of "5S management" ends in nothing. Why? There are many reasons for this, but to sum up, it is a problem of understanding and lack of persistence. As Teacher Qin Ru mentioned in the "5S On-site Management Skills Improvement" course explanation, "the five major sins of 5S management accusations: ① Thinking that it is enough to draw two lines and sweep the floor; ② One tight, two loose, three collapsed, and four Come; ③ Do it when you have time, forget it when you don’t; ④ Think it is a waste of time; ⑤ Do it in vain.”

"5S" comes from the first letter "S" pronounced in English SEIRI (organizing), SEITON (organizing), SEISO (cleaning), SEIKETSU (cleaning), and SHITSUKE (cultivation), so it is collectively called "5S". "5S" activities can not only improve the production environment, but also improve production efficiency, product quality, and employee morale. It is one of the cornerstones for the effective development of other management activities.

1. Contents of "5S" on-site management

"5S" on-site management includes five aspects: sorting, reorganizing, sweeping, cleaning, and cultivating, specifically including:

1． Cleaning

Cleaning is to clean and wipe away dust, dirt, debris, mud, sand and other dirty things on the workplace, environment, instruments, equipment, materials, tools, etc., to create a spotless environment for all company personnel (including Company leaders) should all work together to carry out this work.

(1) In a clean and bright environment, any abnormality, including a screw dropped on the ground, can be discovered immediately.

(2) Equipment abnormalities can be discovered and solved during maintenance.

(3) Everything is clean and tidy, customers are moved, and employees are in a good mood.

(4) Ability to assign areas that each person should be responsible for cleaning. When allocating areas, the boundaries must be drawn absolutely clearly, and no areas or blind spots can be left for no one to be responsible for.

(5) Employees who are unwilling to fulfill their responsibilities seriously should not be allowed to take on more important tasks.

2． Cleaning

Cleaning is the daily maintenance activity after "organizing", "rectifying" and "cleaning", that is, forming a system and habit. Each employee should review and confirm whether there are any adverse phenomena in his/her work area at any time, and if any, correct them immediately. A few minutes before leaving get off work every day, a cleaning operation involving all employees is carried out to keep the entire environment in good condition at all times. Once implemented, we cannot give up halfway, otherwise we will return to the original chaotic state.

3． Sorting

Sorting is to separate necessary items from non-essential items. Necessary items are placed in designated locations and clearly marked, and target management is implemented. Unnecessary items are resolutely disposed of. Do not place items other than necessary items on the post. These disposed items may include raw and auxiliary materials, semi-finished and finished products, equipment and instruments, mold fixtures, management documents, forms and documents, etc. The key points are as follows:

(1) Is it necessary to look at every item? Is it necessary to place it like this?

(2) Treat what is to be used immediately , those not used temporarily or not used for a long time;

(3) Even necessities should be provided in moderation; the quantity of necessities should be reduced to the minimum;

(5) Non-essential items refer to things that are not needed in this place and are not needed elsewhere. It may be useful somewhere, but it does not mean "completely useless". You should find its suitable location.

(6) When the space is not enough, don’t think about adding more space first, but tidy up the existing space, and you will find that it is still very spacious.

4． Reorganize

Except for necessary items that are placed in a location that can be accessed immediately, all things that are piled up and do not need to be placed temporarily without special instructions should be checked by the on-site management personnel (squad leader, workshop director) etc.). This reorganization, which is equally important in every department, is the science of efficiency, the study of how things can be immediately accessed and how they can be immediately put back in their place. Storing items arbitrarily will not speed up our work, but will double our search time. We must think and analyze how to get items faster, and let everyone understand this system and follow it.

(1) Reduce the search time to zero;

5． Cultivation

On the first day of class, the teacher asked us what we wanted to learn most? I muttered to myself: I have no idea. Frankly speaking, I don’t know anything about 5S and visual management, let alone anything deeper. In the information age, only through continuous learning and advancing with the times can we better grasp the present. Through the explanations of books and training teachers, I learned about the origin, role and development of 5S, and more importantly, how to use 5S to achieve better visual management of individuals and enterprises. During this period, what is particularly valuable is the mutual help among colleagues and the collective spirit of solving problems together and facing difficulties. It is this spirit that enables us to work hand in hand and move forward courageously, no matter how big the problem is.

Through the teacher’s explanation, we learned that 5S originated in Japan and later spread to other countries around the world, including China.
