Wetlands refer to "permanent or temporary marshes, peatlands or water areas, or fresh water, brackish water and salty water bodies, including water bodies not exceeding 6m at low tide". The following is to share with you the contents of the handwritten newspaper on World Wetlands Day. Welcome to read it!

First, the origin of World Wetlands Day:

Chinese scientists define wetlands as: perennial or seasonal water accumulation on land (the water depth is less than two meters, and the water accumulation is more than four months) and excessively wet land, and the ecology and salt marshes formed by them and the biological populations that grow and inhabit them.

Wetland has a strong function of regulating groundwater, it can effectively store water and resist flood peak, it can purify sewage and regulate regional microclimate, and it is also an important habitat for aquatic animals, amphibians, birds and other wild animals. Wetlands, forests and oceans are also called the three major ecosystems in the world, which have nurtured and enriched the global biodiversity and have been compared to "kidney of the earth".

The Committee of the Convention on Wetlands has determined the theme of World Wetlands Day in 28 as "healthy wetkand, healthy people", with the aim of attracting more people to pay attention to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands and understand the positive impact of maintaining the health of wetlands on human health.

Second, the function of wetland:

1. Material production function: it is rich in animal and plant resources.

2. Adjustment function of atmospheric components:

The rich plant communities in the wetland can absorb a large amount of carbon dioxide gas and release oxygen. Some plants in the wetland also have the function of absorbing harmful gases in the air, which can effectively adjust atmospheric components.

3. Water regulation function:

Wetlands play an important role in water storage, river runoff regulation, groundwater recharge and regional water balance. They are natural "sponges" for water storage and flood control, which can distribute uneven precipitation in time and space, and avoid floods and droughts through the adjustment of wetlands.

4. Purification function:

Swamp wetland is like a natural filter, which helps to slow down the speed of water flow. When running water containing poisons and impurities passes through the wetland, the slow speed is conducive to the precipitation and removal of poisons and impurities. Some wetland plants can effectively absorb toxic substances in water and purify water quality.

5. Provide the function of animal habitat.

6. Regulate local microclimate:

The moisture in the wetland becomes steam through evaporation, and then falls to the surrounding areas in the form of precipitation, so as to maintain the local humidity and rainfall, making Ninghe County one of the wetter areas in Tianjin.

Third, the slogan of the World Wetland calendar year:

1. 1997: Wetlands are the source of life. (wetlands: a source of life)

2. 1998: Wetland Water, Wetland of Water. (Water for Wetlands, Wetlands for Water)

3. 1999: People and wetlands are closely related. (people and wetlands: the vital link)

4. 2: Cherish our internationally important wetlands. (celebrating our wetlands of international importance)

5, 21: wetland world-a world to be explored. (wetlands world-a world to discover)

6, 22: wetlands: water, life and culture. (wetlands: water, Life, and Culture)

7, 23: No wetlands-no water. (no wetlands-no water)

8, 24: From mountains to oceans, wetlands are serving human beings. (From the Mountains to the Sea, Wetlands at Work for Us)

9, 25: Wetland biodiversity and cultural diversity. (culture and biological diversities of wetlands)

14. 21: Work together to protect wetlands and cope with climate change. (caring for wetlands—an answer to climate change)

15. 211: Forests are related to water and wetlands. "wetland and forest"

16, 212: wetland tourism, a wonderful experience. "Wetlands and Tourism"

18. 214: Wetlands and Agriculture: * * * Growing Partners "Wetlands and Agriculture"

19. 215: Our Future "with the slogan" Join us ".

IV. Purpose of World Wetlands Day:

Wetlands are an important field of environmental protection, and different countries and experts have different definitions of wetlands. The common saying is "long-term or temporary marshes, peatlands or water areas, or fresh water, brackish water and salty water bodies, including waters not exceeding 6 meters at low tide". Because it plays an important role in maintaining water sources, resisting floods, controlling pollution, regulating climate and maintaining biodiversity. Chinese scientists define wetland as an ecosystem formed by perennial or seasonal water accumulation on land (the water depth is less than 2 meters, and the water accumulation is more than 4 months) and over-wet land, and the biological population that grows and inhabits it. Common natural wetlands are: marshland, peatland, shallow lakes, river beaches, coastal beaches and salt marshes.

Wetland has a strong function of regulating groundwater, which can effectively store water and resist flood peak; It can purify sewage and adjust regional microclimate; Wetlands are also important habitats for aquatic animals, amphibians, birds and other wildlife. Wetlands, forests and oceans are also called the three major ecosystems in the world, which have nurtured and enriched the global biodiversity and have been compared to "kidney of the earth".

However, due to people reclaiming wetlands or changing their uses, the ecological environment has been seriously damaged. For example, the flood disaster is aggravated, the drought trend is obvious, and the biodiversity is sharply reduced.

V. wetlands international League:

(WIUN), UNESCO, UNEP, UNDP, international lake environment committee, United Nations Foundation, Global Environment Facility, World Heritage Foundation and many other international organizations and public welfare funds have cooperated with China Wetland League (WAP public welfare protection organization, Director-General Zeng Decai) to carry out wetland ecological protection and world heritage protection. The Wetland Alliance (WAP) has accepted and evaluated wetland projects that need protection planning in China and the Asia-Pacific region. Individuals and local wetlands can put forward "public welfare protection" to the Wetland Alliance. Representatives of international organizations and Mr. Zeng Decai, a public welfare investment and financing protection expert, have provided project evaluation and supporting protection of international public welfare funds for several regional wetland protection. The organization is accepting regional and local "wetland protection applications". The Conservation Union is carrying out protection and planning work on a number of threatened and disappearing wetlands, such as public welfare investment and financing services, responsible tourism, eco-habitat, environmental education, and international eco-economic circle plans.
