The action of prospering the border and enriching the people in the new period plays an important role in national development, national unity and border management. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, to promote the action of rejuvenating the border areas and enriching the people, efforts should be made to build the sense of Chinese national identity, optimize the path of policy implementation, fill the shortcomings of infrastructure and public services, enhance the self-development momentum of border areas, consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty alleviation, and strive to achieve prosperity, security and stability in border areas.

The total length of China's land border is about 22,000 kilometers, and nearly 24 million people of all ethnic groups live on nearly 2 million square kilometers of land in 9 border provinces 140 land border counties (cities, districts and banners).
