Therefore, by combing the relevant literature at home and abroad, combined with the current situation and development trend of expressway planning and construction in China, this paper analyzes the various functions of service areas, and divides expressway services into three types according to the planning scale and functional completeness, namely, first-class service areas, second-class service areas and third-class service areas, each with its own characteristics.

Managing the service area well is not only the urgent hope of drivers and passengers, but also the demand of expressway management system.
