Chelsea: Lampard and his youthful storm

He is a Chelsea legend, midfielder brain and team leader.

Thirteen years of Blues career has left many memories.

The bitterness of the rainy night in Moscow and the tragedy at Stamford Bridge,

What they got in exchange was an iron-blooded will.

Now he is no longer as brave as he was back then, but he has returned in another way.

The youth storm is sweeping across England.

Trust and support, iron blood and vitality.

Lampard, in this way, leads this young army forward.

Frank Lampard, a former Blues star. It occupies an important position in Chelsea's various team history records. He remains the team's all-time leading scorer with 211 goals in 648 games. During his illustrious 13-year club career, he was the driving force behind 13 trophies, including three Premier League titles and the 2012 Champions League. He is loved by the fans and his knowledge of the club is matched by few.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has never been an emotional person.

His reign at Chelsea is best defined by his ruthless pursuit of success. In 16 years, he changed the team's head coach 13 times. This short-term focus has helped Chelsea win 16 major trophies, so it's no surprise that they allowed former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri to leave despite his victory in the Europa League final. But at the same time, the decision to appoint Lampard as Sarri's successor inevitably feels tied to past friendships. The former Chelsea midfielder showed his coaching ability at Derby County, reaching the Championship play-off final in his first season in charge, and his legendary experience at Chelsea may bring him back to Stamford Bridge.

For Abramovich, appointing a former player is nothing new. The Russian has officially handed the job to Lampard's former team-mate Roberto Di Matteo after overseeing Chelsea's Champions League success seven years ago. But it's certainly different from today's appointment.

Before Sarri arrived, Chelsea were coached by Conte, Hiddink, Mourinho and Benitez. Their reception by fans varies, but there is no doubt that they all come to Stamford Bridge with a series of heavy honours. Their reputation is an important guarantee for Chelsea's future success. In other words, this is a typical Abu-style appointment.

In contrast, Lampard only has one season of coaching experience. Before joining Derby County, he had not served as a formal coach at any level. Even Di Matteo, who was sacked just months after his appointment in 2012, had served as Villas-Boas' assistant and had previously coached Milton Keynes and West Bromwich Albion.

For Chelsea coach under Abramovich, Lampard's lack of experience is unprecedented, but the club's current situation is equally difficult. Chelsea have spent much of Abramovich's reign and are now facing a two-window transfer ban - although the final outcome is still subject to an appeal by Sporting's Court of Arbitration.

For Lampard, this is a new job at the Blues. Chelsea spent £129m on new players last summer to help Sarri change their style of play, but his vision never really materialized. Just weeks before Baku won the Europa League, Chelsea fans expressed their displeasure at Stamford Bridge by chanting "You don't know what you're doing".

Who better to inspire fans than a club legend like Lampard? He didn't leave on the best terms when he opted to join Manchester City in 2014, but he did receive a warm welcome when he returned to Stamford Bridge with Derby County in October. A banner in the Matthew Harding stands read: "You will always be a Blue, you will always be a legend."

In the 2019-2020 season, he is back.

The next episode will continue, so stay tuned.
