Q:? Hello, Professor Yang! How long have you been studying smart car control system? What do you think of the future ideology of cars?
I have been engaged in the intelligent vehicle control system for 28 years, and all the work and project practice are closely related to the intelligent vehicle control system. After decades of research, I have gained all-round exercise in the field of intelligent vehicle control system and realized the self-worth of others. In my personal experience, the future car should be an object, smart space or working platform that people can't give up after the mobile phone. From primary intelligence to smart cars with certain thinking, one day, all our imaginations about cars will come true.

Q:? Some people bluntly say that autonomous driving is "a long time to hear its voice, one day." Do you think the era of autonomous driving has really come?
The original intention of autonomous driving research and development is to bring safety, efficiency and convenience to users, and we are moving in this direction. When 5G enters the commercial market, the first year of intelligent driving has arrived, because 5G allows cloud computing to communicate with cars without delay (1ms), and the super unlimited cloud computing capability corresponds to the infinity in the ODD (Optical Disk Drive) operation design field of intelligent driving, which can be described as a perfect match.

Q: In the future, cars will develop into "large smart phones with wheels". Do you think this metaphor is appropriate? What did you say?/Sorry?
The car will develop into a "large smart phone with wheels", which is simple and straightforward, and the metaphor is good. But it's still a little limited. Intelligent driving is based on the 5G communication channel, which connects the car with the super unlimited cloud computing capability and gives the car magical power. The role of a car will be far greater than that of a large smart phone, and it may be more of a mobile smart space, office and leisure.

Q: When hardware, design and efficiency are not enough to impress consumers, what differentiated experiences can software-defined cars bring us?

Q: Tesla has blossomed everywhere in North America, China and Europe, and the explosion effect is obvious, which has a great impact on various new forces in China. How do you think they should fight back?
With the localization and rapid increase of Tesla, it has brought a new experience and cognition of intelligent driving. Domestic competing products have been competing, and intelligent driving will enter the growth period from the introduction period. Although Tesla is in the lead, it is time to harvest, so we should pay close attention to the harvest, otherwise Tesla will no longer have an advantage in the 5G accelerated AI era. The development momentum of domestic car companies should not be underestimated. Tucki P7, BYD Han and Weilai ES6 are all explosions of domestic new energy, and their intelligent drivers are also outstanding. The biggest challenge of traditional car enterprise reform is the change of system, mechanism and culture, which will be devastating. General Wei's worry does exist. After the emergence of 5G, the entire business logic will undergo earth-shaking changes, and the entire architecture and top-level design will be re-planned. Whether it is a traditional head car company or an emerging force in recent years, it is king to agree that software defines cars and drives autonomous driving. Q: Autopilot is the weather vane for the future development of automobiles. Do you think we are ready for the laws and regulations? Who will pay the bill if there is a traffic accident after the driverless car is on the road? What else do we need to improve?
At present, there are almost no laws and regulations in this regard, and the main responsibility bearers are the main OEMs, perpetrators and operators. However, the current demonstration cities have provided some experience and basis for legislation in this area, which has accelerated the legislative process. Enterprises should fully understand the historical opportunity of the development of smart cars, the relative advantages at home and abroad, the industry integration and the top-level design in technology stack, their own advantages and disadvantages, make correct judgments, and should not be blindly arrogant and dare to take on difficult responsibilities. The government should provide services in policies, laws, ethics, fair competition among enterprises (especially the oligopoly formed by the entry of multinational giants into Lian Heng), technology research and development environment, personnel training, industrial development guidance, and coordination of leading departments.

Q: When do you think the L5 autopilot, the advanced ideal form of smart car, will really land? What is the core technology that autonomous driving needs to overcome?
L4 autonomous driving should usher in great development in eight to ten years. Because the L5-level autopilot of the advanced ideal form has more factors to consider, involves a wider range, and needs time to demonstrate and popularize, it is estimated that the L5-level autopilot of the advanced ideal form of smart cars will really land around 2035. The core technologies that autonomous driving needs to overcome are: chip computing power, various AI algorithms, top-level architecture design of the entire ecosystem, information security and national security.

Q: When the combination of AI and automobile is getting closer and closer, can China's talent output match it? People from all walks of life are saying that there are too few people who know cars and software. As a university professor, can you help me answer this question?
China's higher education is approaching from a big country to a powerful one, and the cultivation and output of talents will also change with the change of policies. The integration of production and education in new engineering is committed to the export of talents who know both cars and software, as well as the cross-border integration development, cooperation and talent exchange of the industry, which provides a good fertile ground for this cross-border integration of talents. Don't worry too much about the basic talents needed by the industry.
Of course, multi-disciplinary integration, high-end, top-level talents are also very scarce. Full-stack talents in more than a dozen fields, such as computer network communication, electronic chips, AI algorithms, autonomous driving and smart cities, determine the direction of this industry. With China stepping onto the world stage and the promotion of the national strategy of smart car industry, the top talents in the smart car world will be produced in China, and the representative figures of smart cars will be produced in the digital age. In my life, I prefer walking, reading and making friends. If there is an interesting story, it is to communicate with classmates in class. I like the atmosphere of mutual exchange and learning. Automobile knowledge system is long, and there are many interdisciplinary subjects. In the process of communicating with graduate students, I also have many unknown fields, most of which are solved by my own method of analyzing problems and the experience of various interdisciplinary projects. Therefore, I also teach my graduate students to dabble in a wide range, start with the projects around me, practice 18 kinds of martial arts, and achieve mastery.
