The abbreviation of air quality index is AQI.

Air quality index (AQI) is a dimensionless index that quantitatively describes air quality. Individual air quality index (IAQI) is also specified for individual pollutants.

The main pollutants involved in air quality assessment are fine particulate matter (pm25), inhalable particulate matter (pm 10), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (03) and carbon monoxide (CO).

In the first half of 20 12, the stipulated air quality index (AOI) will replace the original air pollution index. AQI*** is divided into six grades, from excellent grade I, good grade II, light pollution grade III and moderate pollution grade IV to heavy pollution grade V and heavy pollution grade VI. When the daily average concentration of PM2.5 reaches 150 μ g/m3, the AQI reaches 200; When the daily average concentration of PM2.5 reaches 250μ g/m3, the AOI reaches 300; When the daily average concentration reaches 500 μ g/m3, the corresponding AOI index reaches 500.

Air quality is divided into six levels according to the size of air quality index, corresponding to six categories of air quality. The higher the index, the higher the level, indicating that the more serious the pollution situation, the greater the harm to human health.
