What is Wuchang rice?

Wuchang rice is a brand of rice produced in Wuchang City, Heilongjiang. Wuchang City is a county-level city affiliated to Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. In the fourth year of Xianfeng Period in the Qing Dynasty, five Jiashes were established, namely, "Promoting benevolence, Youyi, Chongli, Shangzhi, and Honesty". They were taken from the meaning of "Three Cardinal Guidelines and Five Constant Rules", so it was named Wuchang City. .

In the fifteenth year of Daoguang's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1835), Jilin General Fujun organized a small number of Korean residents to divert water to grow rice in the Liangdianzi and Wangjia Street areas of Shahe Town. The rice produced was ground into rice with stone rollers. Later, it became the tribute rice of successive emperors in the late Qing Dynasty. Harbin's rice area has reached 6.65 million acres, and its total output has reached 7 billion kilograms. On average, each person in the country can eat 5 kilograms of Harbin rice. Wuchang, a major rice county in the country, has a rice area of ??1.7 million acres, 17 times that of the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Since the historical records of rice cultivation in Wuchang began during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, in less than 200 years, Wuchang rice has become famous all over the world. It has always been the exclusive tribute rice of the royal family. After the reform and opening up, it won many awards, such as "Green Food", "Organic Food", "Chinese Famous Brand", "American Food and Nutrition Association Certified Products", "China Origin Protected Products" and other laurels exclusive to China. The folk proverb "Wuchang rice, the food of the emperor" is widely sung among the white mountains and black waters. The Empress Dowager Cixi, who was extremely picky about her diet, even mentioned many times that "you can't eat all your food without this rice."

Wuchang began to cultivate rice in 1835, which has a history of 176 years.

The Five Permanent Leaders proposed the green strategic slogan in 1993, taking the lead in raising the "big banner" of rice and establishing a green food brand.

In 1993, the WPC had 1.3 million acres of rice fields (1.6 million acres in 2000), and the slogan they put forward was: One million without pollution, one billion for fine processing, occupy a large market, and enrich the people.

The national green food logo was used in October 1994.

In 1995, it became one of only seven famous rice brands in China and the only Chinese famous brand rice product in our city.

Wuchang City established the Rice Association in 1999, and at the same time established a large-scale industrialization leader, Lvfeng High-Quality Rice Development Group.

In 2001, Wuchang City began to integrate rice resources and brands. All rice produced in the designated production areas of Wuchang was concentrated under the brand "Wuchang Rice". According to different varieties, "Wuchang Rice", "Wuchang Rice" and "Wuchang Rice" were registered. There are four product names: "Wuchang fragrant rice", "Wuchang glutinous rice" and "Wuchang black rice".

In 2003, the commercial volume of Wuchang rice reached more than 400 million kilograms. The price per kilogram was 0.12 yuan higher than other rice, and the income of rice farmers increased by more than 50 million yuan.
