Liuzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1956, formerly known as Liuzhou Railway Transportation School, a national key secondary school directly under the Ministry of Railways. 1958- 1962 was upgraded to Guangxi Railway Institute and Liuzhou Railway Institute (undergraduate). In 2008, it was awarded as an "excellent" school for talent training in higher vocational colleges by the Ministry of Education. In 2009, it was renamed Liuzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College.
