Asian Games Torch Relay Route and Time Schedule

The Asian Games torch relay route is sequentially carried out throughout the province from Huzhou, Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Ningbo, Zhoushan, Taizhou, Wenzhou, Lishui, Jinhua and Quzhou. It will be launched in Hangzhou on September 8th.

The base of the torch is based on eight water veins as the veins of civilization, representing the eight major water systems in Zhejiang; the body of the torch is evolved from the Liangzhu spiral pattern, which is shaped like a fingerprint, naturally intertwined and delicate; the crown of the torch means "Jade Cong" in Chinese Characteristics, the square and the circle blend together, standing proudly. The design of the fire outlet is derived from the earliest oracle bone inscription "Cong", which means "light starts again and again in the inner circle".

As a repertoire of previous large-scale comprehensive sports competitions, whether it is the Olympic Games, Asian Games, Universiade, National Games, Provincial Games or Municipal Games, the torch relay is one of the essential links. Fire collection, torch relay, lighting of the main torch tower... every ceremony marks a new planning node for the Games.

Development History:

The predecessor of the Asian Games was the Far Eastern Games. Initiated by the Philippine Sports Association in 1911, it is held every two years and is held alternately in Manila, Philippines, Shanghai, China and Osaka, Japan. After the end of World War II, many Asian countries got rid of colonial rule, gained independence and liberation, and established new social systems.

As the trauma of the war has healed and people’s lives have become increasingly stable, sports have gradually become more active. The Olympic Games, which had been suspended for 12 years due to the war, were resumed again. Against this historical background, people in the Asian sports community have a desire to form a unified Asian sports leadership organization to promote the development of Asian sports.
