4. 18 What is the theme before the International Day of Monuments and Sites?

Monument refers to the cultural relics left by human ancestors in the past long years, refers to some specific heritages or sites in history, culture, architecture and art, and is a precious wealth of all mankind. 1982 On April 18, the International Council of Monuments and Sites held a scientific seminar in Tunisia. At the same time, at the meeting of the Executive Committee held in Mamat, a representative proposed for the first time to establish an international day of monuments and sites, and to hold a global celebration on this day every year.

This proposal was discussed and approved by the Executive Committee, and was approved by the 22nd General Conference of UNESCO in June165438+1October of the following year. In a resolution, the General Assembly called on Member States to advocate and publicize "4. 18 International Day of Monuments and Sites".

Starting from 200 1, the International Council of Monuments and Sites sets an activity theme for April 18 every year. According to this theme, member States can choose their own activities, such as holding round tables, scientific seminars, exhibitions and lectures, and opening museums and sites to the public free of charge. After that, countries will send relevant reports, papers, posters, news reports and other written and photo materials to the secretariat of the International Council of Monuments and Sites for the record.
