In daily English teaching, we often encounter such a situation: a student studies English very hard, remembers a lot of words and recites a lot of grammar rules, but his academic performance is not ideal, especially when using language, his comprehension and expression are poor. Why is there such a situation? The reason is that the student has a poor sense of English language. Language sense is a person's ability to comprehend and sense language, and it is the expression that language training makes perfect. It is formed in long-term language practice. English teaching has its own inherent characteristics, and language sense is the fulcrum of English teaching. People with a strong sense of language have a strong understanding, can grasp the main points when listening to others, and can express their language fluently and appropriately and react quickly, which shows the high efficiency of foreign language learning. So I pay special attention to the cultivation of students' sense of language in daily teaching.

1. What is a sense of language

A sense of language is a person's ability to comprehend and sense language, and it is a manifestation that language training has reached a certain level. Mr. Ye Shengtao once said: "In language teaching, language sense is the core factor in the four abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Without the sense of language, literary works can't be appreciated, and the ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing can't be improved; The level of language sense determines the level of listening, speaking, reading and writing. " For China students who take English as a foreign language, it is undoubtedly the most effective way to cultivate a good sense of language. Then, how to cultivate students' sense of language, how to carry it out and where to start?

Second, how to cultivate English language sense

Long-term English teaching practice tells us that the stronger students' English language sense, the higher their English quality, and the more they can creatively learn and use English language and conduct various communication activities accurately and quickly. Therefore, attaching importance to cultivating middle school students' sense of English language and strengthening their oral expression ability and reading and writing ability have become the important contents of implementing quality education in junior middle school English classes. How to cultivate English language sense?

Our research group has carried out research and practice on language sense teaching for three years, and believes that language sense training should be carried out in the following aspects.

(1) Listening to sounds, imitating images and feeling a sense of language

The cultivation of a sense of language is inseparable from a strong language environment. However, in an environment where English is not a native language, it is difficult for students to actively contact authentic English after class. Therefore, teachers must create English environment for students as much as possible, especially English listening environment, so that students can always immerse themselves in English atmosphere. What students listen to most in class is English spoken by teachers, so English teachers must organize classes in English from beginning to end and encourage all students to talk in English. In addition, teachers should use multimedia and other modern teaching methods to present some original English materials to students, so that students can better understand the background culture of English-speaking countries and learn to think in English while listening to authentic English. In this way, in the long run, these listening things will be internalized into students' ability to perceive and understand the language, that is, to improve their sense of language. Of course, after class, teachers can encourage students to listen to English recordings or English broadcasts according to their own preferences, watch English movies and even recommend English listening websites to students. In this way, they will have more opportunities to feel authentic English, and they can learn the phonetic feeling in the English language imperceptibly, and then they can experience the cadence feeling in English through more imitation, so as to use it flexibly.

(2) Creating listening and speaking environment and enhancing language sense

The cultivation of language sense is inseparable from a large number of language materials and language environment, so that students can immerse themselves in the ocean of English.

first of all, I must try my best to teach in English class. Mr. Zhu Guangqian, who strongly advocates the cultivation of English language sense, never speaks a word of Chinese when he enters the classroom from the first lesson. When I first started doing this, my classmates all said to me, "What do you mean, teacher?" I told them that you don't have to understand every word of the teacher. You should grasp the key words and try to figure it out by yourself with the help of the teacher's gestures, eyes, tones and movements, so as to cultivate this listening habit. This practice not only creates an English atmosphere, but also trains students to think in English.

Secondly, various listening and speaking activities are carried out in the classroom. Try to create conditions for students to swim in the sea of English, make full use of modern teaching methods to carry out bilateral activities between teachers and students, and create English listening and speaking situations by using tape recorders, projectors, language labs and multimedia teachers. Humorous original audio tapes, vivid and interesting pictures, especially the dynamic pictures of multimedia teachers, arouse students' senses and stimulate their desire for listening and speaking. Thirdly, actively carry out English extracurricular activities. To learn a foreign language well, 45 minutes in class alone is not enough. After all, class time is too limited. Developing English extracurricular activities and creating more English environment can greatly arouse students' enthusiasm and improve their ability. We often hold school-wide English activities, in which students write, arrange and perform themselves. Each program embodies the wisdom of students, and the quality of the program has also been well received by teachers and parents. Especially in this year's English Activity Week, the song and dance "You are my sunshine" stands out and has a high evaluation. I encourage students to communicate in English as much as possible in daily activities. Our school is located in Jinshitan National Tourism Resort, and many foreigners come to visit. We make full use of this favorable condition to encourage our students to meet foreigners and communicate with them in English. At first, the students were ashamed to export, and when they were nervous, they didn't know what to say. They just said Hello. Gradually, they feel that it is interesting to communicate with foreigners, so the effect is much better. When a first-year student in our school met a foreigner, he opened his mouth and said Good afternoon；; How are you？ And so on, which surprised and stunned the foreigner. Such a real language communication situation makes students come into contact with authentic English and enhances their sense of language.

(3) strengthen reading and enhance the sense of language.

For English learning, the more you read, the better you read, the more you can understand the ideological content of sentences and articles and get infected. When reading thoroughly, the phrases, sentences and expressions in the article will be digested and attracted by students, thus stimulating students' emotions and making them have a keen sense of language and writing. 1. Understand the correct pronunciation of words and the correct reading of sentences. Only when the pronunciation of words is correct and the light and heavy pronunciation of sentences is correct can we have a sense of language. 2. Listen to the teacher's model reading. Model reading is a demonstration reading, which can be read by teachers, can also be replaced by teaching tapes, and can also be used by students with high reading level. It is best for teachers to model reading, which can provide an example for students. The teacher's tone, intonation, manner and movements will be deeply impressed by the students. By listening to the model reading and reading repeatedly, students' reading level can be improved and their sense of language can be trained. 3. Read aloud in different roles. Reading aloud in different roles not only trains the sense of language, but also deepens the understanding and experience of the works. 4. Graded reading. Language sense training can't be done in one step. Reading training must be step by step and hierarchical, so that students can step up the ladder step by step, and each step of training should have clear goals. According to the requirements of middle school English syllabus, we should move forward in the direction of correctness, fluency and affection.

(4) recite the text and deepen the sense of language.

In English teaching, the training of language sense can obviously improve the teaching quality. Reciting texts is an important way to cultivate a sense of language. The cultivation of language sense can not be separated from a large number of language materials and language environment. The combination of the "language form" input during endorsement, the form and meaning in the characters and symbols, and all kinds of existing knowledge will act on the brain together, producing a series of reaction activities, such as feeling, perception, thinking, judgment and analysis, which is the formation of language sense. If you have a strong sense of language, your understanding will be strong, and your language expression will be fluent and decent, which shows the high efficiency of learning a foreign language.

(5) Pay attention to students' writing training and develop language sense

Reading and listening more often contribute to the occurrence and form of language sense, which is often subconscious, while writing more contributes to the expression and maturity of language sense, from subconscious to consciousness, from internal potential to external action, so that language sense can be fully developed. Therefore, to learn English well and cultivate English language sense, we must write more English. The advantage of writing is the best feedback to reading, listening and speaking. This kind of feedback can't be replaced by other forms of learning and practice. The maturity of English language sense is the ability to form English thinking, and writing training is of great benefit to the development of English thinking ability. So in daily teaching, I ask my classmates to keep a diary. At first, the requirements are a little lower, just write one or two sentences or three or four sentences, and then gradually increase. As long as you persist and accumulate over time, you will develop the ability to think in English.

In a word, language sense is very important in foreign language learning. In order to truly master the English language and use it flexibly, it is necessary to cultivate and improve students' perception of the language through various channels < P > (6) Creating situations, teacher-student interaction, enhancing the sense of language < P > Insisting on teaching in English and creating a good language environment are important ways to edify the sense of language. Teachers should adhere to the teaching principle of "using English as much as possible and making proper use of mother tongue", and try their best to teach in proper English, so as to reduce students' dependence on mother tongue and the negative transfer of mother tongue to English teaching and make the classroom full of strong English atmosphere.

Insisting on teaching in English will enable students to immerse themselves in a strong classroom English atmosphere, consciously or unconsciously use English thinking and communicate in English. This not only cultivates students' listening and speaking ability, but also trains their sense of language.

At the same time, if teachers perform and explain the teaching content in the language environment and adopt appropriate gestures, movements and expressions, they can not only avoid explaining English in Chinese, but also establish an overall concept of directional novelty and stimulation for students, which can arouse students' sense of language organically from the aspects of pronunciation, semantics, grammar, tone and posture, and create a language atmosphere conducive to cultivating language sense.

For example, when I teach the word push, I guide the students to spell the word, while silently walking to a student closest to the podium, gently pushing him with my hand, and at the same time, I say loudly: "push! push! I am pushing him. "At this point, the students' attention is all attracted to the author's actions and context. Later, the author did the same thing when teaching the word "pull". Through such situational feelings, the students were immersed in the scene, and the students had thoroughly understood the meaning of the words "push" and "pull" in the author's actions, and effectively enhanced their sense of language.

(7) Strengthening the function of English activity class

English is a language, and the learning and use of language cannot be separated from various communicative activities. The function of strengthening English activity class is to guide students to life. In order to cultivate students' ability to use English for cross-cultural communication, a sense of language is beneficial for students to absorb and use vivid living materials and language materials. The more materials they absorb and the more frequently they use language materials, the more foundation they have for the formation of language sense ability, and it will also make English teaching in senior high schools get out of the long-term vicious circle.

English activity class, as an extension of classroom teaching, can provide teachers with a real practice place and context, and its greatest advantage is that it is based on students' own oral and mental practice. Carrying out colorful activity classes is more conducive to students to develop their specialties, broaden their horizons, actively think and cultivate their hobbies, broaden their knowledge, improve their intelligence and comprehensive ability and promote their all-round development. At present, paying attention to the function of English activity class has an ideal orientation and practical reference. The creation of English activity class provides the possibility for students to combine learning and thinking with the unity of knowing and doing, and promotes the formation of students' sense of language to some extent.

In short, English teaching is a process that takes the current textbooks as a model, language training as the main line, life after school as a vivid textbook, and students' language practice as the center, constantly repeating this directional reflection chain, and finally making students form a good sense of language.

(8) Creating an environment and atmosphere conducive to students' learning English

Normal children can gradually learn their mother tongue, and can distinguish the weight of words and the level of intonation, which strongly shows the important role of context in the cultivation of language sense. In learning English, besides students' regular practice, they should also have a good environment and atmosphere, and create more environments for students to memorize and study unconsciously. For example, school or classroom slogans can be written in both English and Chinese, and schools can organize English wall newspapers, English broadcasts and English corners. We can also adopt the method of mutual infiltration between disciplines, such as teaching words by contacting the letter code of formulas in many sciences with the first letter of related English words. In this way, the process of students learning other courses sometimes becomes the process of students further understanding and deepening English knowledge, and some knowledge points of other disciplines become the factors that induce students to review English.

(9) Cultivate students' habit of thinking in English

In teaching, teachers should adhere to the teaching principle of "using English as much as possible and making proper use of mother tongue" to reduce students' dependence on mother tongue and the negative transfer of mother tongue to English teaching. Teachers' teaching and students' learning should try not to use mother tongue as an intermediary, and even if they use it, they should strengthen analysis and comparison. Students are required to use an English-Chinese dictionary and gradually switch to Ying Ying dictionary, which is helpful for students to accurately grasp the connotation and extension of vocabulary, because it is not always possible to explain another language in one language in a one-to-one way. Teachers have the experience that some English words and sentences are difficult to explain in Chinese, and even the more difficult it is to explain. In this case, I often give some sentences containing the word and sentence, so that students can guess and understand it in a specific context. The given context should be as similar as possible to the context in which the word and sentence are located, and it should be familiar or easy for students to accept. This will not only pave the way for students' understanding, but also help them understand and master the word and sentence, enhance the amount of language practice, effectively improve students' English understanding ability and help cultivate students' habit of using English thinking.

It was a common method for people to learn Chinese by memorizing a lot of ancient Chinese. The theory of modern language learning also tells us that a lot of language input creates possibilities for language output, which tells us the importance of accumulation in language learning. In teaching, teachers should ask students to develop the habit of taking notes, so that students can always pay attention to recording some useful words, phrases, wonderful sentences and essays, and they should often read or recite them, and imitate them more, so that beautiful words, various expressions and writing skills can be learned by heart, in order to improve their language use ability.
