The eight characters of Guangzhou Railway Station

In 1986, the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee decided to hang a huge slogan "Unify the Motherland, Revitalize China" at the Guangzhou Railway Station. To this day, this slogan still remains on the station building and has become the symbol of Guangzhou Train.

There are two slogans. On the one hand, Guangzhou is at the forefront of reform and opening up. Residents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas Chinese take trains to the country, and usually the first city they arrive is Guangzhou. On the other hand, in the Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong at that time, millions of immigrants came to Guangdong by train from all over the country, and Guangzhou was the place they must pass through.

In 1911, Sun Yat-sen, the great founder of the Three People's Principles, established his base camp in Guangzhou three times. First, he overthrew the Qing Dynasty during the Revolution of 1911, and secondly, he fought against warlords here.
