Revisions are published once every four years and revised at any time when necessary.

Article 5 The authority to approve the granting of technical titles is: international-class athletes and athletes shall be granted with the approval of the State Sports Commission; The first-class athletes are awarded by the provincial, autonomous region and municipality directly under the Central Government, the Sports Institute directly under the State Sports Commission and the China Locomotive Sports Association respectively. Second-class and third-class athletes and junior athletes are awarded by the prefecture (city), county sports commission, sports institute and China Locomotive Sports Association respectively.
