Where is the venue for the 2009 Winter Olympic Games?

At the congress held in Busan, the Olympic Council decided that the 7th Asian Winter Games, which should have been held in 20 1 1, will be held in Beirut, Lebanon in 2009, and the Asian Winter Games will still be held every four years.

This decision embodies the efforts of the Olympic Council of Asia: for the development of Asian winter sports and in line with the "Olympic strategy", the Asian Winter Games was born in 1987, held every four years, and has been successfully held for four times so far. The first two Asian Winter Games were held one year before the Winter Olympics, while the last one of 1992 Winter Olympics was held two years ahead of schedule, that is, 1994, which made the quadrennial Asian Winter Games a year after the Winter Olympics, which made athletes from all walks of life exhausted after the Winter Olympics, and the lack of training greatly reduced their strength and level, which also directly affected the overall Asian Winter Games.

OCA believes that changing the cycle of the Asian Winter Games is the best choice. In order to leave more time for the host cities of the 5th and 6th Asian Winter Games, these two Asian Winter Games will still be held in 2003 and 2007, but it is decided to hold the 7th Asian Winter Games in 2009 two years ahead of schedule and every four years thereafter.

In this way, from the 7th Asian Winter Games, every Asian Winter Games is still held one year before each Winter Olympics, which makes the Asian Winter Games coincide with the "Olympic strategy" of Asian countries and regions, and is of great benefit to athletes preparing for the Winter Olympics and improving the level of the Asian Winter Games.
