Maoyu Ancient Town is located in the southeast of Tongjiang County, Bazhong City, Sichuan Province. It is one of the well-preserved ancient towns in Tongjiang County. The town, formerly known as Longshe Town, was prosperous in the late Ming Dynasty, with Jiziding Mountain in the north. It is a land and water transportation hub in the east and north of the county, surrounded by water and backed by mountains, showing a peninsula shape. This is one of the most prosperous water docks in the county in the old days.

In the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935), the ancient town of Maoyu was under the jurisdiction of the four districts of the pseudo-county government, and in August of the 29th year of the Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of the pseudo-Maoyu Township Office. After the founding of the People's Government of Maoyu Township, the streets are arranged in a straight line along the river bank. There are dozens of sites on the ground, including the Deputy General's Office in the late Ming Dynasty, the former site of the garrison in the early Qing Dynasty, the stone inscription slogan of the Red Army, the political work conference of the Red Fourth Front Army and the former site of the Ai Dong government in Chijiang County.
