Code for barrier-free design

The Code for Barrier-free Design is a new national standard to solve the outstanding problems such as nonstandard, unsystematic and impractical in barrier-free environment construction and ensure the technical level of construction and transformation.

The state and society gradually implement the design specifications for urban roads and buildings that are convenient for the disabled and adopt barrier-free measures. With the development of the country, the needs of an aging society and the deepening of humanized design concept, the barrier-free design specification is to solve the outstanding problems of nonstandard, unsystematic and impractical in barrier-free environment construction.

In order to ensure the smooth construction of barrier-free facilities and the technical level of construction and renovation, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development approved and issued new national standards. The main content is to protect the rights and interests of the disabled and facilitate their daily life and travel smoothly. Specifically, it includes urban roads, residential areas and public buildings.
