The history of Guangzhou subway

On June 28th, 1997, Guangzhou officially opened the first subway line, namely Metro 1. Since the opening of the subway 1 line, Guangzhou has successfully become the fourth city in China and the first city in Guangdong. The operating mileage is about 62 1 km, ranking third in the country.

By May 2022, Guangzhou has 16 subway lines, namely 1 line, line 2, line 3 (including the north extension of line 3), line 4, line 5, line 6, line 7, line 8, line 9, line 13 and line 65433.

At the same time, as of May 2022, there are 1 1 subway lines under construction, namely, East Extension of Line 3, East Extension of Line 5, Phase II of Line 7, 10, 12 and 60/respectively. After the successful construction and operation of these subway lines, it is believed that Guangzhou subway lines will spread to more areas.

Since the appearance of the subway, people's travel time has been effectively shortened. Moreover, the subway line is directly built underground, which can save some ground space and make the ground used for other purposes. In addition, building underground can effectively reduce ground noise. At the same time, the speed of the subway is very stable and it can have a good ride experience.
