Notice on Promulgating and Implementing the Measures for Granting Registration Number of Ship Inspection by Maritime Safety Administration

In order to solve the problems of computer year 2 and registration number existing in the current methods for granting registration number of ship inspection, The revised Measures for Granting Ship Inspection Registration Number are hereby promulgated and shall come into force as of January 1, 2.

In order to do the relevant work well, the relevant requirements are specified as follows:

L. The "Ship Inspection Registration Number" is awarded by the Maritime Safety Administration, and it is one of the unique and unchanging legal code marks of ships in China. The granting of ship inspection registration number is one of the important links to realize the automatic management of ship inspection computer and the exchange of ship information, and to establish a national ship database. All units must do a good job in the granting of ship inspection registration number in strict accordance with the provisions of the Measures and the requirements of this notice.

2. China Classification Society and the provincial ship inspection bureaus (offices) (hereinafter referred to as the ship inspection agencies) are the units designated by the Maritime Safety Administration to grant the ship inspection registration number on behalf of the Maritime Safety Administration, and are specifically responsible for the granting of the ship inspection registration number within their respective jurisdictions. Each ship inspection agency should have a special person in charge of this work.

3. The conversion of the existing ship inspection registration number should be done well. All ship inspection agencies shall list all ships inspected and registered in their own units according to the year of construction, and determine the new registration number of each ship according to the provisions of the Measures. When an existing ship is inspected for the latest time, the on-site inspection department shall issue technical documents according to the new ship inspection registration number applied to each ship inspection agency. Since January 1, 2, the ship inspection registration number on various technical documents issued by all ship inspection departments after the inspection is completed shall be the new registration number. Considering that the inspection cycle of all kinds of ships is different, the work of granting new registration numbers to existing ships to ships is required to be completed before the end of 21.
