During the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Shujiang River became a military force near the Yangtze River today.

During the Eastern Han Dynasty, Ren Man and Tian Rong, the generals of Shu, tried to prevent the troops of the Eastern Han Dynasty from entering Shu on the Yangtze River near Yichang today. This is the first recorded military pontoon bridge on the Yangtze River.

Yiling District, Yichang City, Hubei Province is located in the dam (reservoir) area of the Three Gorges Project along the Xiling Gorge of the Yangtze River. In recent years, the region has vigorously promoted the global ecological greening project and the construction of the green ecological corridor in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, carefully managed the banks of the Three Gorges and fully protected the ecological barrier of the Xiajiang River. The forest coverage rate in the whole region is stable at over 70%.

In recent years, Yichang City, Hubei Province has continued to restore the ecology of the Qingjiang shoreline of the Yangtze River, expand the space for green development, promote the construction of the Qingjiang ecological corridor and the high-level protection and greening of the Yangtze River, and help the construction of a model city with great protection of the Yangtze River.
