Introduction to Gongchuan Ancient Town

Gongchuan Ancient Town is located in Gongchuan Town, 10 kilometers away from Taoyuandong Scenic Area, Yong'an City, Fujian Province. It is one of the most complete ancient towns in Fujian Province. The ancient city wall in the town is well preserved. It was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty and is more than 2,000 meters long and 79 meters high. In the late Ming Dynasty, there was an academy built in the castle with a collection of 100,000 books. Outside the castle is the Huiqing Bridge, which was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties and has a unique shape.

The ancient name of Gongchuan Town is "Gongbao" and it is the only castle-style ancient town in Fujian. Gongchuan has produced many literati and celebrities from ancient times to the present, and there are many cultural relics protection units. There are 3 provincial-level cultural relics protection units: the ancient city wall, Huiqing Bridge, and Sunbang Gongzhan; there are more than ten municipal-level cultural relics protection units, including Zhengshun Temple, Chen's Ancestral Hall, Ancient Well, and Li Baojun's Former Residence.

Gongchuan has a long history and a strong cultural atmosphere. Gongchuan has been a town since the Tang Dynasty, and its cultural heritage has been passed down for more than a thousand years. Since the Song Dynasty, celebrities have emerged in large numbers and have flourished for a while. The family surnamed Chen enjoys the reputation of "one with two Neo-Confucianisms and nine sons with ten successful exams". In the Ming and Qing dynasties, Jinshi, Juren, and Gongsheng students emerged one after another. Notes on visiting Gongchuan Ancient City:

1. Restricted behaviors. It is prohibited to set off fireworks and firecrackers in the street performance area.

2. Items prohibited. Including flammable, explosive, corrosive, radioactive and other dangerous items, controlled equipment such as crossbows, daggers, knives, imitation guns, and other items that endanger public safety. Violators will be confiscated in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, and relevant personnel will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

3. Restricted items. Including fragile items, lighters, alcoholic beverages, banners and slogans (including but not limited to commercial, religious, political, etc. promotional materials), any means of transportation except strollers and wheelchairs, animals (services such as guide dogs etc. (except animals), as well as sharp objects and other items that can easily cause personal injury. Violators will be ordered to throw it away or dispose of it themselves.

4. Transportation. Since some sections of the street are closed during the street parade, and parking lots around the performance section are limited, it is recommended that people going to watch the street parade choose public transportation and walk to the performance point to watch. The general public and vehicle drivers are requested to choose detours in advance and cooperate with the public security organs to maintain traffic order during the event.
