Introduction to Gongchuan Ancient Town

Gongchuan Ancient Town is located in Gongchuan Town, 10 kilometers away from Taoyuandong Scenic Area, Yong'an City, Fujian Province. It is one of the most complete ancient towns in Fujian Province. The ancient city wall in the town is well preserved. It was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty and is more than 2,000 meters long and 79 meters high. In the late Ming Dynasty, there was an academy built in the castle with a collection of 100,000 books. Outside the castle is the Huiqing Bridge, which was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties and has a unique shape.

The ancient name of Gongchuan Town is "Gongbao" and it is the only castle-style ancient town in Fujian. Gongchuan has produced many literati and celebrities from ancient times to the present, and there are many cultural relics protection units. There are 3 provincial-level cultural relics protection units: the ancient city wall, Huiqing Bridge, and Sunbang Gongzhan; there are more than ten municipal-level cultural relics protection units, including Zhengshun Temple, Chen's Ancestral Hall, Ancient Well, and Li Baojun's Former Residence.
