When is Children's Day in Korea?
South Korea's Children's Day began on 1923 and evolved from "Boys' Day". This is also a public holiday in Korea, which is scheduled for May 5th every year.
Fang Dinghuan, a Korean children's writer, held a movement to advocate the establishment of Children's Day in order to resist Japanese colonial rule and enhance children's sense of national independence. In this context, South Korea had its first Children's Day on 1923.
Subsequently, due to the intervention of the Japanese colonial government, Children's Day was once cancelled. 1945, after the recovery of South Korea, Children's Day was designated as May 5 every year, 1973, and Children's Day was designated as a legal public holiday.

On the occasion of the second anniversary of the 1923 Youth Movement, Fang Dinghuan and other patriots designated May 1 as Korean Children's Day and held a celebration in Seoul.
