Brief introduction of township industry

Township industry refers to the industries below the county level in the administrative system of China, including township industry, village-run industry, cooperative industry and rural individual enterprises. Generally, the enterprises in various economic sectors dominated by collective ownership are small in scale, but because of the large number, they relatively accommodate more labor, and the production and operation of products are mainly regulated by the market, which has greater flexibility and vitality. Since the early 1980s, China's township enterprises have developed rapidly, with 1986 employees, accounting for 1.2% of the total rural labor force, and the industrial output value accounts for more than one-fifth of the total industrial output value, which has become an important part of China's industrial production. The production and operation activities of township enterprises involve various industrial sectors, and the main categories are: fertilizer for agricultural production, manufacturing of agricultural machinery and tools and feed processing, processing of agricultural and sideline products for people's daily life, mining and primary processing of raw materials for large industries, production and cooperation of products for processing industries, production and construction management of building materials for capital construction, and production of handicrafts for export. Reasonable development of township enterprises according to local conditions is conducive to making full use of local natural resources, and is of great significance to promoting rural economic development, increasing farmers' income and solving rural surplus labor force.
