How to choose a camping roof, six key skills to help you find the most suitable one.

For camping friends, on many occasions, awnings are used more frequently than tents. Many friends like to have afternoon tea, make coffee and have a small barbecue by the stream, in the Woods and on the lawn. In this case, if there is scorching sun, fallen leaves on trees, and even occasional showers, then at this time, you need a canopy to help you keep out the sun and rain. For example, if you choose to camp overnight, you will lose the soul of camping overnight. You think that opening the tent the next day is a beautiful scenery, but in fact it is very bright at six o'clock the next morning. The sun rises and the temperature in the tent rises gradually. You will feel that it is an extravagant hope to sleep in the tent and wake up naturally. But if there is a canopy above the tent at this time, the situation will be greatly improved, and you can sleep peacefully and wake up naturally.

So in most cases, you need an awning. It is easier to choose a sunshade than a stove or tent. Just master the following six points:

1, the area of the crown

We mainly choose the awning according to the number of outdoor people, but considering that camping often has some uncertainties, we still try to choose a larger awning. The larger the crown area, the larger the shadow area, and vice versa. The main function of the canopy is shading. As the sun's trajectory changes, the shadow formed by the crown will also move. At noon, the shadow formed by a small canopy can only provide shade for one person, and we need to move according to the shadow constantly, which is very troublesome. Similarly, from the point of view of rain protection, the bigger the canopy, the stronger the rainy days and winds. Of course, the bigger the canopy, the heavier the weight, so the key is to choose the biggest canopy on the weight you think you can bear.

2. Material of awning

Waterproof materials of awnings are generally PU, PE, silver plating and vinyl. Among them, PU is also the most widely used. The most commonly used fabrics for curtains are cotton and polyester, which are light, breathable and easy to care for; The advantage of cotton cloth is its good hygroscopicity.

Relatively speaking, it absorbs water. On rainy days, the tree crown is easy to get wet, and it is easy to get muggy with cotton cloth in summer. However, if you want to choose a canopy with a face value, cotton is still highly recommended, because the cotton canopy will be warm at night and directly full of atmosphere. Under the same size, the price of cotton canopy is more expensive than that of polyester canopy.

Polyester awning has strong ultraviolet protection, so its light transmission performance is poor. In the case of big sun, it is strongly recommended to use polyester awning for shading. At night, if there is no matching atmosphere light and bright light source under the polyester canopy, there is basically only light, which will be darker. In addition, if the canopy area exceeds 5*6, the fabric must not be less than 2 10D or 2 10T, because the large area requires a large tensile force, that is, tear resistance, so the fabric is particularly important.

The waterproof performance of the canopy mainly depends on the waterproof index of the material: a tent with a waterproof index of 800MM- 1200MM can prevent small to moderate rain; Tents with waterproof index 1500MM-3000MM can prevent moderate to heavy rain;

With regard to silver plating, ironing or vinyl, many low-priced awnings on the market are not plated with silver or vinyl. Under the sunlight, even if shadows can be formed, the temperature under the awning will become higher. It would be much better if it was a canopy with silver or vinyl sun protection function. General sun protection is divided into two categories, one is sun protection and the other is ultraviolet protection. The anti-ultraviolet effect of vinyl and silver coatings is basically the same, and the transmittance of both coatings is less than 5%. The main difference between the two sunscreens is that they block the sun. In the case of thickening and coating vinyl, the penetration rate of sunlight is basically zero, while the silver coating is easy to penetrate, which plays a role in sun protection while maintaining a certain visibility. Therefore, vinyl has a better sunscreen effect than silver coating, and silver coating has a more transparent function. For example, for high-end fabrics, you can directly look for hot silver fabrics. The sunscreen performance is vinyl > hot silver > silver coating, and the weight is vinyl > silver coating > hot silver.

3. The shape of the crown

There are many shapes of awnings in the market, mainly triangular, rectangular and butterfly.

Rectangular awning is one of the common awning types, and the construction method is relatively simple. Through the porous design of awning and the addition of tent poles, there can be many modeling changes to meet the needs of tent matching.

Butterfly canopy has four corners, five corners, six corners, octagonal and so on, which has stronger wind resistance. Butterfly canopy is generally supported by two main poles, and various shapes need the assistance of multiple additional canopy poles.

4. Canopy support rod

The stress points of the awning are gathered in the holes of each Rachel wind rope and supported by the awning rod. At present, the awning poles on the market are mainly galvanized iron and aluminum alloy, and galvanized iron awning poles are often heavier and more able to bear weight than aluminum alloy awning poles. However, the weight of aluminum alloy rod is lighter than galvanized iron, which is convenient to carry and more flexible, and it is not easy to burn in the sun.

Giant canopy, pole with a certain diameter of 32/33mm, preferably aluminum alloy, is relatively light, and the toughness of aluminum will not hurt people in windy weather. In addition, we should not only look at the diameter, but also look at the wall thickness of the pipeline. The market standard label is 1.5T, but it is actually1.2t. In addition, the number of support rods is configured according to the shape of the awning, and it is best to follow the principle that the number of pull angles of the awning is 2.

5. Wind rope, regulator and ground nail

Generally, awning clothes contain windproof ropes and ground nails, but do not contain adjusting parts, but when in use, windproof ropes and adjusting parts are used most frequently. Many hikers don't know how to use the adjusting piece and tie a knot with a windproof rope, which is wrong. In fact, the adjusting piece is very convenient to use.

There are many kinds of adjusting plates, such as snake-shaped adjusting plate, aluminum alloy quick-release triangular adjusting plate, double-hole wooden adjusting plate, circular aluminum alloy adjusting ring and so on. There are many skills to use the adjustment piece, and users can choose their favorite adjustment piece.

Precautions for windbreak rope are: the greater the friction resistance used, the better the effect will be. The amount of windbreak rope is large, so you can buy a bundle and cut it yourself. The length is not necessarily the same according to your own needs. The overall weight is relatively heavy, so it is necessary to use nylon wind rope of more than 6mm or umbrella rope of more than 12 strands. The rope depends not only on the thickness, but also on the number of internal strands, which determines the overall tensile strength.

As far as the general canopy is concerned, as long as there is no strong wind, there is no need to use 30cm ground nails (30cm ground nails are often kept in my trunk for half a year ...). Generally, a good grassland camp has more than 20cm ground nails, and 30cm ground nails are just sweating. However, if you encounter a large canopy, generally use 40cm nails, otherwise the strength is not enough. In addition, the ground nail generally has a luminous function, so it won't trip people at night.

When using the canopy in the dark, remember to equip the camp lights, buy fluorescent signs and tie them to the ground nails and wind ropes to remind passers-by.

6. Maintenance of awning

The maintenance of polyester canopy is relatively simple. Whether it is a canopy or a tent, the ideal storage environment is "no direct sunlight", "avoid direct sunlight" and "dry and ventilated". How to choose a suitable tent, please refer to My Ten-year Camping Road, and also talk about the stalks of outdoor tent selection.

The maintenance of cotton awning is complicated, and it needs to be completely dried before it can be stored, otherwise it will be moldy, and the treatment after moldy is more troublesome. Mild mildew can be cleaned with diluted white vinegar solution.
