Why did Xian Xinghai create The Yellow River Cantata?

1938 After the fall of Wuhan in June 165438+ 10, the famous poet Guangweiran led the third team of anti-Japanese drama to cross the Yellow River from Hukou, Yichuan County, Shaanxi Province, and moved to Luliang Mountain Anti-Japanese Base. On the way, I witnessed the boatmen of the Yellow River struggling forward in the stormy waves and listened to the sonorous trumpets of the boatmen. After arriving in Yan 'an in June+the following year 10, 5438, he wrote the poem Yellow River and recited it at this year's New Year's Eve party. Xian Xinghai was very excited after hearing this, and said that he would create The Yellow River Cantata for the drama team. In a crude earthen kiln in Yan 'an, Xian Xinghai persisted in writing for six days, and completed this historic large-scale vocal music work The Yellow River Cantata. After that, it premiered in Yan 'an Northern Shaanxi Public School Auditorium, which caused great repercussions and soon spread throughout China.

The Yellow River Cantata provided a brilliant example for China's modern large-scale vocal music creation. In the late 1960s, it was also adapted into a piano concerto.
