Nanxun Town Guide

Driving in Nanxun Town, the parking lot is very large. I spent 100 yuan on tickets and found that there are many intersections to enter the scenic spot. I often see the slogan "Nanxun Town is hard to find in the world" in the circle of friends.

The nostalgic maltose, the mottled stone road, the winding river, the washing in the river, and the morning tea by the river, this is Nanxun Town that retains the living conditions of the indigenous people.

The main attractions in the scenic area include the four former residences (Xiaolianzhuang, Zhang Shiming’s former residence, Liu Shiti, and Zhang Jingjiang’s former residence), Yishu Tower (Ye Jia Library), Guanyi (Guanghui Palace), and a Museum (Li Jihu Silk Museum) and a building complex (hundreds of buildings).

Xiaolian Village, also known as "Liu Garden". It is the first of the "Four Symbols" in Nanxun in the late Qing Dynasty and the private garden and family temple of Dr. Guanglu Liu Yong in the late Qing Dynasty. Xiaolianzhuang is named "Xiaolianzhuang" because of the "Lianhuazhuang" built by the Yuan and Song Dynasty painter Zhao Meng.

Zhang Shiming's old house was built by Zhang Junheng, one of the "Four Elephants" in Nanxun and the grandson of Zhang Songxian, the richest man in Jiangnan. Also known as Tang Yide. It is one of the rare giant houses in Jiangnan, basically maintaining the old appearance of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This is a classic building that combines Chinese and Western styles.

Zhang Jingjiang’s former residence maintains the traditional ancient architectural style of the Qing Dynasty’s “three rooms and five rooms”. There is one entrance, one hall and five rooms, and each entrance has its own sky. Each entrance is upgraded to a level, commonly known as rising step by step.

A villa built in 1930 by Liu Chengqian, the grandson of the library owner Liu Yong. Liu Chengqian was indifferent to fame and fortune throughout his life and did not seek to be an official. Even in his later years and his family was in decline, he still regarded himself as the "head of the family". The place where he collected books in Shanghai was called Qiu Shuzhai, and the Nanxun Villa was called Qiu Shuli Villa.

Liu's Ladder: Chongde Hall, commonly known as the Red Mansion, is the residence of Liu Anhui, the third son of Liu Yong, the richest man in Nanxun's "Four Elephants". The most distinctive feature is the integration of northern and southern Chinese architecture into Western European Roman architecture, but the Hui style volcanic walls and Shikumen have elements of European Rococo. The main attractions in the park include: Red Army Long March Tracking Hall, Xuchi Memorial Hall, Wu Shougu Art Museum, Nanxun Celebrity Gallery, Little Tiananmen Square Children's Paradise, Farmland Paradise, Wenchang Pavilion, etc.

Hall 1: The statue of Sanqing, the highest god of Taoism, is worshiped in the hall. It was first called Guanghui Palace. After the Yuan Dynasty, Zhang Shicheng, the leader of the peasant uprising, built a granary here and occupied Guanghui Palace as the imperial palace, commonly known as "Zhang".

Baijian Tower also has a strange origin. Sun Dongdaochun, the Minister of Rites in the Ming Dynasty and a scholar of the Hanlin Academy, wanted to marry Mao Kun, the daughter of the Jiaqing scholar in Nanxun. Mao Kun pointed out that his daughter had 100 maids and Dong's house was not enough. Dong heard this and immediately replied: I will build a hundred rooms immediately and let your daughter's maidservant live in one.

Lihu Temple Hall: The hall is divided into five exhibition halls. Through a large number of detailed historical materials and objects, as well as multimedia sound and light imaging technology, the historical origins of Nanxun and the World Expo are fully demonstrated, as well as the profound cultural connotation of Nanxun town. It is a comprehensive exhibition hall integrating historical records, humanistic experience, popular science education, product display and other functions.

It takes about half a day to visit all the attractions. If you have enough time, you can stroll inside and experience the leisurely life of Jiangnan Water Town.
